Mika Hakkinen dominated the 2001 British GP and returned to his winning ways. The double world champion has never won at Silverstone before.


He was followed home by the two Ferrari's of Schumacher and Barichello. The younger Schumacher retired with Engine problems after his second pitstop in a possible podium position. His team mate Montoya took his third finish of the year in 4th place. The two Saubers of Raikkonen and Heidfeld were 5th and 6th making it three Ferrari powered cars in the top six.
British hopefull, David Coulthard, collided with Jarno Trulli in the first corner and both retired. Eddie Jordans day was spoilt further when Frentzen failed to score any points (he finished 7th). The other two Brits finished but neither were in the points. Alonso was last after one of his front tyres fell of after his pitstop.
