How the teams will fair (2001)

Ferarri

-

M.Schumacher- They claim he's the best and who am i to disagree...a fourth title is on the horizon perhaps.

R.Barrachello- Did well against Michael last year, Ferarri will be asking for more of the same with a little bit extra now he's settled in the team.

Mclaren

-

M.Hakkinen- Michael's main rival. He's coming under more pressure from team mate Coulthard than ever before but who'd bet against him taking his third title in in four years.

D.Coulthard- They say he's to nice to win the championship but he's more determined than ever before...i reckon he could be pretty nasty if he needed too.

Williams

-

R.Schumacher- He's confident about the teams chances this year and doesn't seem to be fased by Montoya as it was predicted he would be. Quicker than most people it would pressume as well as Ralf walked all over him in recent test results. This should be the year were he makes his first trip to the top of the podium.

J-P.Montoya- Made a name for himself in the US and Frank rates him highly. He's fast, confident and a little bit arragant...reminicent of Schuey snr in some ways perhaps.

Benetton

-

G.Fisichella- Made a big impression in 1997 and 1998 but now he doesn't look that special apart from in Canada and Monaco were he wakes up again. He hasn't lost the speed but Wurz never really pushed him...team mate Button will however.

J.Button- In Britain he's the best thing since sliced bread and rightfully so. He's young, intelligent, quick and calm. He'slooking to get valuable experience for the next two years while he's on loan to Benetton but Williams won't want him back if he doesn't impress.

BAR

-

J.Villenearve- The 1997 champion is still as quick as ever and two hard seasons at BAR has helped him become a better overall package. This year expect podiums for BAR and Jaques will be on them.

O.Panis- Looked as if his career was over in 1999 untill he signed as a test driver for Mclaren for the 2000 season. BAR have given him a race seat this year and you can bet he'll push Villenearve hard and if the BAR is reliable you'll be seeing him up on the podium too.

Jordan

-

H-H.Frentzen- quick but breaks under pressure and team mate Trulli will cause a lot of pressure. If he keeps his head however he's very quick but he's not the smoothest of drivers.

J.Trulli- Unlike Frentzen, the young charger Trulli is incredible smooth and if given a reliable car he will do well. Last year he proved he was fast and had the edge over Frentzen but the car was unreliable.

Arrows

- /img>

J.Vertstappen- He has incredible raw speed and aggression but is not very smooth. Is experienced and has proved he can bring the car home in the points in many different conditions...if the engine is reliable he could score some more points this year.

E.Bernoldi- He's very quick but has tended to fold under pressure in the junior formula's which will be a major hinderence in F1. However, If he keeps his head he could perform well.

Jaguar

-

E.Irvine- No-one wins four GP's without being quick but Eddie is overpaid which takes some of the motivation away. He seems to have matured over the last year as Jaguar's lead driver and is rated highly by the Jaguar team.

L.Burti- He has been quick in testing and did a good job as stand in driver for Irvine in the Austrian GP last year. The team rates him highly and i won't be the one to disagree.

Sauber

-

N.Heidfeld- I think Nick is a good driver and Mclaren agree. He did very well against Alesi last year. He's going to find it tough being teamleader in only his second year of GP racing though. He seems confident enough and has done well in winter testing so he could prove to be the dark horse in 2001.

K.Raikkonen- with only 23 single seater races to his name you could say Sauber was taking a bit of a gamble but he's done well in winter testing. He's not use to two hour races though so he should struggle a bit at first but hopefully every one will give him some time to warm up.

Prost

-

J.Alesi- He's the most experienced guy on the track this year and is probably still one of the fastest. He has an incredible passion for Formula one. He has said that he is pleased with the new car...Prost could be the suprise of the year.

G.Mazzacane- This was a money disission. He's not been particually good in winter testing and did not do very well compared to team mate Gene last year at Minardi. He could be replaced by Pedro de la Rosa (the Prost test driver) if he fails to deliver.

Minardi

-

T.Marques- Some may remember him from the 1997 season when he drove for Minardi. He wasn't too bad then and he's even better now...shame his talent is going to be wasted at the back of the grid really.

F.Alonso- Very fast in F3000, he was fourth overall in the year 2000. Again, it's a shame he has to spend a year plugging round in a Minardi...but Frank Williams is a fan.
