(25 November 2000)

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone. Hope everyone got to see the "Family Feud" marathon hosted by Richard. It was filmed 5 years ago, but close enough. I've heard a few mixed reviews, but everyone seems to have enjoyed it. I know I did. I think Richard always had that come and go humour where he could tell a joke one second and get tons of laughs, and then tell one the next second and get crickets chirping. But I find myself jotting down all the jokes and telling them to my family. Of course they never get them, and I have to say that 'it was much better on Feud.' Richard looked incredible and great for his age! The little words of advice at the end was very emotionally charged. I hope we see more of him real soon. On a "Match Game" note, they're showing the ones where he had to wear glasses because he had an eye infection. I love glasses, so I gotta say how nice he looks in them, and the episode the other night! Mega chestitude being shown! Yum!

(07 November 2000)

Well, we've waited to see Richard on Tv again and now it's gonna happen. Those who watch Gameshow Network have most likely seen the excellent commercial several times by now. Richard will be hosting the Thanksgiving Day Family Feud marathon on the 23rd of November! Yay! The commercial starts out with a big family sitting around the dinner table saying 'Feudisms' and the guy at the head of the table yells "Survey said!" and then we see a few clips from Celebrity Family Feud. The real treat? A current, cute-as-ever, Richard sitting at the table giving his famous 'Love' sign, while the announcer informs us that we can see our beloved fella hosting the marathon. What more can you ask for? Finally, people will get to see that Richard IS alive and that he's lookin' GREAT! It starts at 8pm Eastern, so be sure to set those VCRs!! Oh, and....Save The Turkeys! :o)

(31 October 2000)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Let's all go Trick-or-Treating at Richard's house! Hehe! So, I watched that Elvira special with the "Cop Out" pilot that had Richard and Larry on it. It wasn't too bad. But I hated waiting til they got to Richard. Took forever! Any fan would've guessed that he was being honest about his answer, about the substitute for romance being children. I had a dream once, I think, or it was just a thought....There was a funhouse and Richard was standing in front with a top hat and a cane yelling "Step right up!" And I always thought he'd be great in that sort of role. Doesn't have to be a big deal, but it would be neat. So if any movie people are reading this, keep that in mind, haha!

(27/28 October 2000)

Hopefuly everyone enjoyed the "Hogan's Heroes" marathon. I didn't know if I wanted to tape them all or not, so I went through a lot of last minute decisions and finally decided to look up which ones were being aired and I only taped the ones I needed. Now if you know me, you know my luck is horrible. (Such as today when I had a problem logging into my sight cos it said I was under 13!) I needed to tape a few other things during the marathon and had them pretty much mapped out. But I was sleeping during a lot of it and things just didn't wanna go right. I meant to tape "Password," with Bob, on Sunday and I set my radio alarm for 3pm. "Password" came on at 3:30pm. My alarm went off as scheduled but the volume was so low that I slept through it and woke up at 3:50pm. Grr! So I saw the last 10 minutes. Then I forgot to turn off the VCR power so the timer comes on and I missed "Family Feud" and "Match Game." I also missed the start of a "Hogan's Heroes" episode I needed. Other than that, I got what I needed, including "Family Feud and "Match Game" on Saturday and Sunday night, just not the one during the day. I still haven't finished retaping everything though. So much to do. Anyway, can't wait to see Richard on the Elvira special this Saturday! Anything I haven't seen yet (and there's a LOT) is always enjoyable!
**********
Have to mention "Family Feud" from Friday night. Richard kissed a woman and she leaned in and whispered something and he doesn't hear so he leaned forward and she whispered it again but he had to move the mic aside and lean in more and she said 'My underwear was falling down' and she said it into his little mic on his shirt so she was embarrassed and he said he moved the [other] mic out of the way but she made a comment about the one on his shirt. He said, "No one will ever hear that. Truely." Then he looked under the table, which didn't make the woman any more comfortable, haha!

(18 October 2000)

Here comes the "Hogan's Heroes" Fandemonium weekend from the 21st to the 22nd of October! And the Raise The Dead marathon on the 28th of October on Gameshow Network which will show Richard! If you get that channel, I'm sure you've seen Elvira plugging the special a million times. Today I realized that while I'll be taping "Hogan's Heroes" all weekend, I'll miss "Family Feud" and "Match Game on Saturday, and two episodes of "Family Feud" and two episodes of "Match Game" on Sunday. Eek! I'll also miss "As Seen On" Sunday, and sometimes they show Richard clips, but I guess that one isn't as important as the others. So, I'm gonna either have to persuade my dad to let me use his Tv several times or I'll have to stop taping "Hogan's Heroes" while the other shows are on. I expect to be doing that, cos my dad is a little possessive of his Tv. My mom doesn't get either of those channels on her Tv, or she would let me tape in there. Oh, what a tangled web we weave. Why do they always put things on at the same time? Of course they'll show all the "Hogan's Heroes episodes I already have when I'm watching, and when I have to turn the channel, they'll show the ones I need. What do you mean I have a tape obsession?? Some people collect stamps. I happen to collect shows. Is that so wrong? *grin*

(01 October 2000)

OK. So I'm listening to the songs I have on tape that I've managed to gather. Only a few, and most Richard and "Hogan's Heroes" fans have the record "Hogan's Heroes Sings The Best Of World War II." Someone was nice enough to tape it for me, and someone else was nice enough to tape Richard's 1967 Single 45" record. So the songs I've got are.... 'The Children's Parade', 'Apples And Oranges' (both from the 45" single), 'This Is Worth Fighting For', 'A Nightingale Sang In Berkley Square' (from the "HH" record) and if you wanna stretch it a bit, you can count the Messiah song 'Temple Of Dreams' which has snippets from "The Running Man" (my all-time fave Richard line, "Who loves you and who do you love?!" along with "It's time to start....running!"). Anyway, I don't care what anybody says....I think he has an adorable singing voice. Personally, I think he could still make a record and have it sell. I mean when you think back on all the times he was humming or singing a little part of a song on Family Feud, he sounded pretty good then too. But these songs are just....cute! That little accent puts the finishing touches on them. I think my favourite one is 'This Is Worth Fighting For' cos I love the part towards the end when his voice gets stronger ("And then I heard my voice, within me, answer"). And the "with a carpet of corn for a floor" and "didn't I plant this corn" parts. Something about corn I guess. But my favourite might be 'The Childre's Parade' cos the accent does it all. The spoken parts are great. Seems like such a happy song 'til that fierce piano chord at the end. 'Nightingale' is just plain sad. I spent ages trying to figure out what the heck 'Apples And Oranges' was about. In my opinion, it sounds like the trees are in a cemetery. Sometimes it sounds like a war thing or something, but what do I know. Makes more sense than when I didn't even have an idea. (If you know, then tell me!) So, in conclusion to my rant, I feel he's got the right voice and charisma to do children's books on tape. Or a lullaby album. And I have to say, once again....I think the man can sing, and I wish there was more to hear.

(5 September 2000)

I was feeling in a Comment mood, so here it is. Aside from the fact that Richard is adorable no matter what age he is at any given time, I have to say that he could be purple with 7 eyes and 3 horns on his head and he'd still be wonderful. Of course I don't know him personally so he very well could ACT like he has 7 eyes and 3 horns, for all I know. "Lisa, how can you like someone you don't even know?" Well, I just have to base that on what I've seen on Tv? I don't know. Look at how great he is with kids. And how he makes people smile by paying them a little compliment and giving them a bit of attention. I won't lie and say I wouldn't wanna marry the guy (that is if we had met and were actually compatible--I wouldn't just jump right into things you know), but there's more than just those handsome looks. Then there's that wit, charm, and smooth appearance. Who else looks that snazzy in a peach suit?? And can't overlook that tiny hint of an accent when he says "again" and "been." Shannon must be thrilled to have a splendid father, and Gretchen most likely considers herself extremely lucky to have a great 'hunk-o-man' like The Great Richard Dawson! :o)

(24 August 2000):

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but I always have those little visions where I'm hanging out with a bunch of people whom I think would be a lot of fun to chill with. Since this is a site dedicated to Richard, it's obvious that I'm gonna say how I think it'd be neat to hang out with him. He seems like the type of person that could go on and on for hours talking about things I never even knew existed. I have my silly moods during conversations when I just joke around about stuff, but I can also spend hours upon hours in deep conversations. One of my favourite topics is the existance of life, and after-life. I love learning about what people believe in, and I enjoy thinking about how we've evolved and if there's life on other planets. Nobody really knows for sure, so it's fun to try and think of new ideas to consider. For some reason, I can see sitting around with Richard just contemplating life. I'd probably come out of that experience with a head full of new knowledge, and you can't go wrong with that.

(11 August 2000)

I noticed that sometimes Richard looks like he's more conservative but then sometimes he looks like a regular joker. For example, say you and him are dating (Yeah, I know, try and control yourself). One day he looks like he has a forcefield around him and he doesn't feel like being messed with, so you don't know whether to breathe on him let alone kiss or hug him. He looks real neat and conserved and acts like a proper gentleman who puts his arm around your waist and perhaps gives you a peck on the cheek and nothing more. But the next day he looks casual and almost sloppy, and he's got his arms wrapped around you and is kissing you wherever you go and in front of everyone. That's when you don't have to stop and think before you give him a big hug and kiss. He isn't worried about hiding his emotions and let's it all out. I prefer that Richard, but it would be nice to go out to a fancy dinner or some place and have him be all gentleman-like and subtle. But once we get out of the view of everyone, I wanna see that sloppy Richard come shining through. I just gotta mess that hair up!

(7 August 2000)

I think I already covered the hair deal, but I'm very obsessed with this man's hair and I always feel like I can never explain it right. On the early, later Feuds and later Celebrity Feuds, it's too short, in my opinion. I don't mind that it's gray, it's just not long enough. It goes forward though so it's not too bad, but it needs to be a little longer so it can go all different directions, haha. By long enough I mean it has to have enough there to get messed up. On Match Game '74, it's nice. Especially during the time he has that funky mustache. His hair is all puffy and messed up all the time. I don't know if it just messes up on it's own cos it's longer, or if he just doesn't bother to style it as well. But I'd love to just grab onto it and run my hands through it without him being like, "Hey, don't mess up my hair, I just fixed it!" On the early Feuds, it's practically a nice length most of the time, but too neat and to the side. I wish he'd just let it fall anywhere and have done with it. Of course his hair always seemed perfect when he was young, cos aw. Like the pic of him and Gary. Or the young one from the TV guide. Woo! Now on the Match Games ('76) they're showing now, it would be OK, but it's too short, and doesn't do much. Can't really go to the side cos it's too short. Just sorta lays there. OH! That Laugh-In pic....now THAT is nice! Although the hair is a tad bit pointy in the front, but I can overlook that cos of that little curl on the left (his right) that flips up. Awwww! I love when he has a little piece of hair that curls up. Usually in the back, behind his ear, by his collar. And when his hair hangs over the back of is collar, that's cute too. Especially when he's wearing a light suit or a tux with that white collar. I like when Newkirk wears his hat back on his head more, so the hair sticks out in the front. Looks better that way. But any time he scratches his head or runs his hand through his hair, I get a shiver down my spine, cos....well, wow. Ah yes, hair....my weakness. Speaking of my weaknesses with him, I love when he smiles and shows that tooth on his left side on the top, the one with the gap around it. So cute. Unique. And those eyes, well I don't have to explain them. So sad and mystifying. And when they twinkle! Always count on a twinkle during the fast round on Feud. And when he blinks real fast (a Newkirk characteristic) and has his head down but his eyes looking up. But don't get me started on that moody thing he does, where his eyebrows get pointy and scrunchy and mmmmmmm. Hm, what other weaknesses? Oh, when his ears stick out usually when he's had a haircut recently. And his nose is adorable, especially at a profile view. And....all the things he does with his hands. The way his pinkies tend to wander off from the rest of the bunch, haha. How he always pats someone on the shoulder with a gentle grace that soothes. And that walk! You know the one, where he has a hand in his pocket or one on his hip and he walks away from the camera in a strut. Totally opposite from his 'dopey' walk (which I only notice when he isn't wearing a suit for some reason). But I love the 'dopey' walk just as much as the strut. 'Dopey' is a more cuddly, sincere walk while the strut is more of an authority, in-charge walk. I love how he can make a person feel comfortable, and he spends time trying to make everyone fit in and feel equal. But he can still use his quick wit to put someone in their place. And all the cute voices he does, and the little dances he often breaks into. What else? Oh, the way he stands in a straddle at the podium on Feud, and the way he leans on the tables all cool-like. I also like the little chain he wears and I wish he'd wear more low-cut shirts to show off that sexy chest, and have his sleeves short more or rolled up at least. Gotta love those arms, and the little bracelet always looks neat, and his watch. You can't ever see that stuff much when he has on a suit. And I can't close without mentioning those luscious lips! MMmm! Wow, my list is somewhat long here. But there's just so much to love. Then, now, and years to come. Yum!

(25 July 2000)

Right now, I'm watching Family Feud, for the second time in a row, gathering some quotes cos this episode is one one my faves so far. It's the third one after he hurts his ribs. Poor guy. Nothin' like a host all hopped up on Codine! Several minutes ago he had on a pair of HUGE toy sunglasses, which--I have to say--looked adorable! He sure does the cutest things. I bet he's a great father. I love his little voices. The Paul Lynde one is my favourite, and his Indian one is cute. And his Stan impression is cute, especially when he scratches his head. It's always amusing to hear him impersonate the family's accents. Like the Southern, English & Scottish ones. Oh, and the German one. Sometimes he reminds me of a big kid. The world needs more of that sort of personality. The world also needs a nice televised biography of Richard, with lots of good footage! I need to be in the production business. One day.

(9 July 2000)

Well, I finally saw more of the Celebrity Dating Game that Richard was on. I had caught the end of the one where he was the solo person, asking the questions to the 3 girls. But I had seen a commercial for CDG and he was one of the 3 guys being asked the questions by a solo girl. I kept seeing about two seconds of the commercial but he looked GOOD! So, this weekend on As Seen On, they showed three clips from that episode. And boy did he look HOT!! That has to be my favourite look. He looked adorable in his English-style outfit with the white, high frilly and frilly sleeves and black collar-less jacket. Yum! And his little accent! *sigh* So cute! I really NEED to see that whole episode and get it on tape. The second highlite of my weekend (which I needed after my VCR ate my tape up with most of my stuff of the week on it not yet watched), was that my mom bought me a new VCR. I managed to save some of the footage on my tape, including the Hogan's Heroes episode where they all play in that band together. I recently had a fit cos I wore that scene out on my tape. It got all squiggly. But now, here it is again! Yay! What luck, cos before I started taping HH, this came on and later on, I wanted it on tape, and it actually came on! And now it's on again, when I wanna tape the whole thing. So, things DO work out for the better.

(25 June 2000)

I went shopping with my mom yesterday and finally bought a few frames for a dollar a piece. I got a small 5x7 one and two 8x10 ones. A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless so as not to embarrass her in any way) recently sent me several printed copies of three of my Richard desktop wallpapers, the photo of him and Gary, the Laugh-In photo, and the one with him and Shannon (*some* people don't see the cuteness in that photo, but *I* do). I put the one of him and Gary in the small frame and hung it above my closet and bedroom doors, alongside a couple other photos I hae framed there. Then I put two of the desktops together and had to cover part of one to fit the Laugh-In pic in the frame, and I put the other one in the other frame and had to put the Shannon one up top and sideways. Took about an hour to even figure out how to fit them all right. I hate over-lapping things, and I wanna get another small frame to put the Laugh-In one in, cos that deserves its own frame, if you know what I mean. I have the two big frames over by my bed, where I used to have my two Star Trek photos (which are now above my door next to my Kelsey Grammer photo). And that's my exciting story!

(7 June 2000)

I thought I would discuss one of my favourite fantasies today. Nothing graphic, so feel free to read without getting parental consult first. *grin* OK, so my fantasy includes a nice hotel room that I seem to include in most of my fantasies and daydreams, just cos I live with my parents and don't have my own place, so I need a place to imagine. It also includes, of course, our beloved Richard. Starts out where we're sitting on the comfy sofa watching some reruns of early Feud. He's on my right (I don't know why I feel the need for such detail, but it helps me picture it better) and I let out an "aw" here and there which makes him smile modestly and give me a peck on the cheek for gratitude. Well, that leads to him kissing my neck while I continue watching Feud, and eventually my attention to the TV is lost and we kiss passionately. (Odd note: He looks like he did in the Match Game era, with the hounds-tooth jacket and black turtleneck, even though we're watching Feud episodes, but oh well, timing isn't everything.) He leans me back and gently lays on top of me and we continue to kiss, all the while I, being the obsessor that I am, run my hands through his hair and make it all messy and cute. And that's that. The simple, non-explicit version. Hm, I'm suddenly in the mood for some TV.

(28 May 2000)

Let's talk about eyes. I don't know why, but they tend to really stand out when he's doing the final round of Family Feud, and he's revealling the answers. Maybe it's the lighting, but they sure do stand out most at that moment. Other times they tend to look a bit dull. But the shape of them always look the same. Always those sad puppy dog eyes. I'll just say that if he ever looked at me with those eyes and asked me ANYthing, I'd definitely have to go along with him, cos how could I say no?? Beautiful.

(22 May 2000)

I can't decide how I like Richard best. I mean, there's several versions. There's the sweet little Beatle-like English Newkirk Richard, and the middle-aged longer-haired Match Game Richard (I don't count the mustache version of that time period cos, ick.), and the early Family Feud Richard, then the older later Family Feud/Running Man Richard, and of course the much older Richard, but I don't see him enough to get used to that version, although I can say that he makes a sweet looking family man. Now I'm a sucker for accents and he was totally adorable as Newkirk. But I liked him in The Running Man just cos he was a control freak, and that's sort of appealling in an odd way. In the early Family Feud shows he was fine but too....that didn't do it for me. I think the version I like best is the Match Game '74 Richard, cos his hair was cute and he seemed just right. I'm torn between '74 and little Newkirk. I know for a fact that if I had seen him do more things during those early years, I'd like him best then. If only he had that accent in '74. That would be perfect. Oh the decisions!! Leave a note in the Guest Book on this subject if you want. I'd love to hear others' opinions. If anyone cares as much as I do, haha.

(20 May 2000)

Doesn't he have the cutest hair? I know, that's weird, but I can't help it. The way it lays on the back of his collar. Cute. And ever notice him using the same words/phrases over and over and over again? (This from a person who over-uses words such as "LOL," "Haha," "Bah," and a dozen others I can't recall but I'm sure everyone who knows me can.) But I like his over-used words, so it's all fine and dandy. Some that come to mind are "Darlin'," "Cutie-pie," "Dreaded," "Absolutely marvellous," "You're very pretty," "Rascals," and "Uh" but who doesn't say that many times a day? And I just have to mention those eyes. Mm. Especially when the light hits them just right....gotta love 'em.
**********
I just watched a FF episode on a tape from the other week. He seemed to be rushing the show a bit, which bothered me, but the end made up for it. When everyone started singing Happy Birthday to him, and his kids brought out the cake. Then, of course, he gets mobbed by the audience but at least the cake didn't get squished as well. That was a nice moment.

(19 May 2000) I just got finished making a new wallpaper. The one I had up before was one I made of all Newkirk pictures I found on the web. This new one I'm using now is from Match Game photos of Richard and Charles. You can download them and have a look if you want.
**********
(19 May 2000) Well. I'm addicted to three shows right now. They aren't too hard to guess. Family Feud, Match Game, and Hogan's Heroes.  I have to admit that I tape all these things and then go back and put them on the right tapes. I have tape for just Family Feud, and one for just Match Game and Hogan's Heroes. I like watching Match Game with my parents. Then I retape all the Richard parts onto the right tape for later viewing, hehe. I rarely watch an entire episode of Hogan's Heroes though. I just fast-forward to the Richard parts and tape those.  Hm, what else? Oh, I have to get this out in the open. I LOVE that little silly voice he does when he uses his accent. That sounds so adorable. Reminds me of Bernice, that old lady on Designing Women. Haha! Well, more to come. Enjoy your visit!
**********
(19 May 2000) [Intro.] It looks pretty blank around here. That's mainly because I don't have ANY pictures of Richard laying around here that I could use, or I would put them up. So, I have to rely on what I find on the web, and borrow those til I get my own, which I will then put up so everyone can share. I tried to limit my borrowings, and link to the pages I got them from. If I missed a credit, just eMail me and I'll mention you. If you don't want me using your stuff, I'll take it off as soon as you let me know. There still may be some errors here and there, but I'll work those out when I find them.
