PRINCESS BEATRICE STARTING AT NEW SCHOOL

Princess Beatrice, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, has started her school year at St. George's School for girls in Ascot. It'd been planned for the 12-year-old to attend Aiglon College in the Alpine ski resort Villars-su-Ollon, Switzerland, with her mother, Sarah ( Fergie ) living nearby; but this was foiled by a series of sex scandals at the expensive ( £19,000 per anum ) boarding school. A teenage girl was attacked in her dormitory; and a first-year chemistry master was advertising for kinky sex on a website.
At first, Prince Andrew had insisted that it WAS safe; he'd been impressed by Aiglon, as it was linked to his Alma Mater, Gordonstoun, which, like Aiglon, emphasizes education of the whole person, rather than a strictly academic program.
But Scotland Yard pronounced the £20,000 a month cost of protecting Beatrice ( and later, her sister, Eugenie ) to be too high--which would've left Beatrice unprotected in an already-troubled school! So it is St. George's for her, and later, her sister will join her.
MY OPINION: It's inexcusable for Beatrice and Eugenie to be treated as if they are not as good as The Heir and the Spare ( William and Harry ). Consider how valuable Princess Anne has become, with all her hard work. She is considered to be the hardest-working Royal ( "most valuable player," so to speak ). In the future, Beatrice and Eugenie might well be the same. Why shouldn't they receive a comparable education to W. and H.? I hope that the young princesses won't be so badly wasted. Since the Family has recently decided that girls can inherit on an equal basis with boys, they should encourage higher learning all they can.
Also, Scotland Yard has cheaped out with many royals, including Princess Margaret, which seems penny-wise and pound foolish! It will cost far more in ransom, hospital bills, trauma counseling, etc., if anything happens to any of them!
