Usher's Bio

Usher Raymond IV was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 14,1978. He was raised by his mother Jonetta Patton because his father was not present his life as much. Usher also has a younger brother named James. At the age of 12, Usher and his family moved to Atlanta Ga, where he was discovered by Laface Records. Usher has been with this label ever since. His first CD, entitled "Usher" produced by Sean "Puffy" Combs. But sales did not go as well so Usher took creative control over the production of the US Top 10 follow-up My Way, although he did enlist Jermaine Dupri, Teddy Riley and Babyface as co-writers and co-producers. He appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and also performed at the American Music Awards as part of the all-star recording collaboration Black Men United. The first single to be taken from the album, "You Make Me Wanna", hip-hop-styled "Nice 'N' Slow" a US chart-topper in March 1998 and "My Way". The album also included a remake of Midnight Star's "Slow Jam", featuring fellow teenage R&B star Monica. The title track climbed to US number 2 in August 1998.In early '99, Usher released his "Live" CD and video. The live CD and video took place in his home town,Chattanooga. From the CD "Bedtime" was released. Usher also did some acting! He appeared on TV shows such as The Bold & The Beautiful, Moesha, The Promised Land, The Parent Hood, Walker Texas Ranger, and The Famous Jett Jackson. He was also in the big screen!:) He's been in The Faculty, She's All That, and Light It Up. Usher is doing it all yall! His 2000 comeback single "Pop Ya Collar", was co-written with husband-and-wife team Kevin She'kspere Briggs and Kandi. Usher has come back in 2001 with "U Remind Me" a single from his upcoming album "8701". '87 was the year that Usher got into music & 01 is the year now 2001! Isn't that cute!:) "8701" is going to be released on August 7,2001 so everyone go out & buy it!
