Anna Friel
Channel 4 recently axed Brookside after 20-plus years. Given the manner with which Anna's character of Beth Jordache was removed, you doubt she'll be mourning; the show's given us Amanda Burton, Ricky Tomlinson, Jennifer Ellison, Claire Sweeney... and my favourite is still Miss Friel, who has yet to really become part of the British equivalent of the A-list, but has yet to fall back into the obscurity of many. A waif in the good sense, as opposed to the Kate Moss sense.
Recommended viewing: The TV movie The Tribe (not to be confused with the show about the postapocalyptic kids in New Zealand), A Midsummer Night's Dream, An Everlasting Piece, The Land Girls, Me Without You, Sunset Strip, The War Bride.
