Fox's eleventh-hour decision to axe Dark Angel in favour of Joss Whedon's Firefly did not go down well at all with fans, but His Jossness's new creation actually pulled lower ratings than the adventures of Max, Logan et al, and wound up getting cancelled even before the season was half over. But in the meantime, the show's absence leaves a Jessica Marie Alba-sized hole in my life that neither the women on Charmed (a show which immediately precedes Dark Angel Saturdays on five) nor, media protestations to the contrary, Alias's Jennifer Garner succeed in filling (even though Jennifer does have beautiful legs and a lovely bottom*), which is ironic in the case of the latter on account of Jenny G being several inches taller. The fact that Max can survive in conditions which would kill SD-6's finest (not to mention the whole coming-back-from-the-dead thing) is the start of it. Plus Jessica is like soooooooooooooooooo hot... Oh well, at least we have Honey and the begging-for-a-name-change Beautiful Killer to look forward to. Hurry back, my almond-eyed, adorable, pillowy-lipped ode to lusciousness.
Recommended viewing: Dark Angel obviously, and the 1990s Flipper revival, in which even the title dolphin couldn't out-cute Jessica (who was 14 when she started on it, and was a babe even then). But be warned: Jessica was not on the later episodes of the show (i.e. from season three onwards when it was called Flipper: The New Adventures). Plus the movies Never Been Kissed, Paranoid (although this one isn't very good), and Idle Hands, a particular favourite among Albaholics, not least because she's stripped down to her underwear for the climax...
*Not, however, as nice as Jessica's perfectly sculpted, classically-designed, irresistible ass.
