SURF'S UP!!!
The last day of school in southern California means one thing and one thing only: BEACH PARTY!!!
Dana and some of her classmates from Cal State met at the local Mel's Drive-In after their last class to discuss their plans for the summer. Many of them would go home for the summer, but since she lived in Fullerton, she had no intentions of leaving the beach. She's young, free, and dying to spend every waking moment there.
The next day, after breakfast, Dana went down to the local surfshop to buy some essential beach gear like a new pair of sunglasses, a couple new beach towels, and lots of sunscreen. Browsing through the new stock of bathing suits, her eyes glance down under the rack and notice a pair of tanned, muscular legs that are squatting on the floor. Out of curiosity, she paws through the suits until she sees that they were attached to a rather handsome middle-aged man who's stocking sandals.
"Oh," she says, "they belong to you."
The man looks over his shoulder and smiles. "I beg your pardon?"
"I saw legs from under the rack and I was wondering who owned them."
"Oh. Yeah, these are mine. I'm kind of attached to them, or rather they're attached to me," he says. "But I think I need to put some air in my toes. I feel a bit short on one side." Dana laughs at his humor as she comes around the rack to get a better look at him. "Is there something I can find for you?"
"No, thank you. I just came in to get some things for the beach. I'm all set." The man smiles and nods and Dana heads for the cash register.
After she has her things bagged up, Dana stops by the surfboard display on her way out. She's particularly interested in the medium Hobie board, the one with the flaming yin yang. She looks at the price tag: $275.00. Ouch. Her bank accounts going to suffer a little, but she's got to have this board.
"It's a good board," comes a familiar voice behind her. She turns and sees that gorgeous man standing there. "I've got one of those. Turns nice and it's easy to control."
"That's good to know. I had one that lost its fins when I was doing a 360 spin and I couldn't steer it."
The man's eyes light up. "Oh, you surf?"
She smiles warmly. "Since I was eight." She continues as she looks him over. "How long have you been surfing?"
"Not as long as you," he says as he scratches his head and looks at his feet. "I think I've been doin' it for about seven years now. I've always wanted to try it, then I got hooked."
Dana notices that this beautiful man speaks with a slight accent. "I hope you don't think I'm being to nosey, but I'm just curious. Are you from Australia?"
The man laughs a little. "Gosh, no. I'm from England."
"Oh, I see. Do you do much surfing in the UK?"
Smiling, he answers, "No. That's why I'm here in the States. Can't catch a good wave in the Thames, even if a boat goes by." He looks down at his feet again, turning shy but sneaking a peek up at Dana's face. "Do you come in here often?"
"Yeah," she says. "I usually stop by to pick up some things before I head out to the beach. Why do you ask?"
He grins and scratches his head again. "Well, I was just wonderin' if I'd see you 'round."
Dana smiles. "You will. I'm positive."
The two of them stand there and look at each other for a few moments until the man breaks in. "Look at us. Here we are, talkin' like we've known each other our whole lives and I don't even know your name."
"I'm Dana. Pleased to meet ya." She puts her hand out and he takes it.
"Richard. And the pleasure's all mine, Dana." They seem to be a little more comfortable in each others presence now as they look at one another again. "So, where are you off to, Dana? Huntington Beach? Newport? Malibu?"
"Close. Redondo Beach. During school, I'd only go down on the weekends, but now that it's summer I'll be there all the time."
"I usually go down to Laguna Beach myself, but," he says with a smile, "I'll go wherever the best waves are." Dana smiles, then looks at her watch.
"Speaking of waves, I better get going. I'm supposed to meet some friends down at the beach." She smiles and takes his hand again. "It was nice to have met you, Richard."
"You too, Dana. Have fun and be careful."
"I will."
With a small loan from her parents, Dana rushes to the surfshop the next morning to buy that Hobie board she fell in love with. It seems strange that a California girl would spend her money on a surfboard rather than clothes or make-up.
Inside the store, she heads for the board rack, only to find that the one she wanted was no longer there. Disappointed, she sighs and looks through the rack in hopes that it might be hidden.
"Nuts," she says under her breath.
"Can I- oh, hi Dana." It's Richard and his cute, adorable smile.
"Hi Richard. Uh, you wouldn't happen to know by any chance if you have another Hobie in stock, would you?"
"Like the one you were lookin' at yesterday?"
"Yes."
He looks inquisitive for a second. "We might. Follow me." As she follows him back to the stockroom, she can't help but notice how great he looks in those white tennis shorts. It was as if his shorts were molded for his body. "How long was it?" he asks.
Fighting her natural instinct to comically answer his question with a remark about a certain male appendage, she says, "5 foot 5."
Looking through the rack, he shakes his head. "I don't see any here. Wait a minute."
"Did you find one?"
"No, but I know where one might be hiding. Come on." He takes her hand and pulls her into the breakroom. He points across the room towards a surfboard leaning up in the corner. "Is that the one you were lookin' at?" he asks with half a grin.
Dana walks over to it. "Yes!"
Richard sighs with relief. "Oh, good. I got you the right one."
"What? What do you mean 'you got me'?"
He once again scratches his head and grins at his feet. "I kinda bought it for you."
"You bought it for me? Why?"
"Well... you seem like a nice girl. And I knew that you were interested in the board, so I bought it. For you."
"Richard," she says, completely surprised, "I... I don't know what to say."
"Thank you is fine," he says with a smile. "Besides, I got a 25% employee discount on it, so it was cheaper for me to buy it for you than if you bought it for yourself."
"Very smart," Dana says with a grin. She touches the board and says, "You really didn't have to do this, but I appreciate it. Thank you so much. I wish there was something I could do for you in return."
"Well," he begins, "if you come surfing with me tomorrow, I'll consider that a payback." He smiles warmly at her. "Will you come with me?"
Without hesitation, she answers, "Sure. Where will I meet you?"
"How 'bout in front of the store. Around 7:30 a.m.?"
"I'll be here."
He smiles wide. "Great." Dana smiles and heads for the door.
"Are we going to stay the whole day?" she asks.
"Yeah, if you want to."
"Ok. I'll make us a picnic lunch."
"Sounds like fun," says Richard with a warm smile. "Never had a picnic at the beach before." He takes her board from the corner and says, "I'll lock this up for you and we'll pick it up in the mornin', alright?"
"That's fine. Thank you."
7:12 a.m. Dana's been standing in front of the surfshop since 7, too excited to stay home. She paces anxiously on the sidewalk while her mind paints a pleasant picture of what the day could be like. She can't help but wonder what Richard looks like without his shirt on, crouched atop his board as he carves through the foam. Her mind wanders off in another direction as she imagines them both sitting on one of the rock formations at the shoreline, his hand reaching up and touching her cheek as he leans in and-
"Hi Dana!"
Her daydream was shattered by the beeping of a car horn. She looks up and sees that it's Richard sitting behind the wheel of his blue and gold dunebuggy, wearing a kind smile. "Morning!" she shouts back. He hops out and opens the store door and disappears inside for a minute. He returns with her board and helps her into the buggy, then it's off to the beach.
"I heard that the waves in Malibu are going to be great today," he says. "Wanna head there?"
"Like you said yesterday," she says, "I'll go where the waves are."
He smiles and yells, "Malibu, here we come!"
The beach is empty and already warm from the brief morning sun. Richard pulls his buggy right down onto the sand and parks it. Dana helps him unload their gear and lays a huge blanket down on the warm sand, claiming their spot for the day.
Once they've settled, Richard says as he unbuttons his light blue Hawaiian shirt, "Well, I'm goin' in." He tosses his shirt aside and runs towards the water. She watches as he dives into the water, only to shoot up seconds later and scream, "It's freezin'!!"
"It's not even 8 o'clock," Dana says, trying not to laugh as he shivers all the way back to her. "It won't be warm for a while!"
"Nothin' like a jumpstart to your day, love," he says as he dries his body off.
"You're lucky you didn't have a heart attack. Cold shock will do that, you know." She looks at his legs, admiring how his bottom half looks in his soaked red swim shorts.
Richard quickly rubs the towel over his head, then sets it over the edge of the buggy. "So can love." Then he grabs his board. "Comin'?"
Dana takes off her ragged sweatshirt and denim jeans to reveal her surfing bikini underneath. Richard tries not to gawk at her. "Yeah, I guess. Can't have you freezing alone." Both laugh as they head down the beach.
Paddling out a ways, Richard asks Dana, "Have you ever surfed this early before?"
"Nope. First time." She laughs as she continues. "I guess that makes me a morning surf virgin."
A nervous laugh escapes Richard's lips. "Too much information..."
"I said I was a morning surf virgin, not a virgin in the sexual-"
He interrupts politely. "Please. That's none of my business."
"Just letting you know for future reference. You know, incase we-"
"Incase we what?"
"Oh," she says, smiling slyly as she gets ready to catch her first wave, "just incase we ever decide to surf other kinds of waves." Dana paddles with the wave, hops up to her feet and rides the curl into shore. Richard remains out in the water, letting what she just said sink in. He smiles at the thought of a girl who he barely knows falling for him. While he thinks, she paddles back out to him. "Richard, are you ok?"
"Yeah. Just a little..."
"Stunned?" Nervously, he shakes his head yes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable."
"Please don't apologize," he says as he splashes some seawater onto his goosepimpled chest. "You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just not used to girls being so... candid."
"Oh. About that subject?"
"Yes. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it."
Dana paddles closer to him. "Don't be. It's alright. You're the first guy I've met who respects a girl's privacy about things of that nature. Guess I just assumed that you were like the others, but you're not." She smiles and shakes his shoulder. "Don't ever change." The two of them wait for another wave to swell.
After about an hour of waiting for a decent wave, Richard and Dana paddle back to shore and dry off.
"I thought you said the waves were supposed to be big today?" she asks.
"They day is young yet, love." The sun has risen more and the heat of the day is starting to be felt by the few folks already at the beach. Dana sits down on the blanket and reaches into her back and pulls out the suntan lotion. Richard stretches out on his stomach next to her. Without even asking her to, Dana rubs some of the lotion onto Richard's back, working it over his shoulders and down his arms. He moans as her hands glide gently over his back.
"Don't forget my legs," he reminds her. She smiles and fills her hand with a little more of the lotion and slathers it on her toned legs. Her mind was spinning as she rubs the oily substance over the exposed backs of his thighs and down his calves. Once she's covered him, she starts putting the lotion on her chest and legs, then lays down on her back beside him. "You've got such soft hands," he says. "I dated a woman once who was very good at cracking walnuts with her bare hands. Needless to say, her skin was as rough as boot leather."
"She used to break nuts with her bare hands?"
"Yeah. The relationship only lasted a month. She made me nervous."
"Why?"
Richard giggles. "Walnuts weren't the only nuts she could crack."
Dana laughs. "Gotcha. Well, you don't have to worry about me. I can't do that."
He pushes himself up onto his elbows and looks at her eyes tenderly. "I'm glad. I mean, I'm sure you can defend yourself. I just meant that I'm happy that I'm not nervous around you."
She rolls over onto her stomach and scoots closer to Richard. "Now I'm glad." She quickly gives him a peck on the cheek and lays on her back again.
"What was that for?" he asks.
"For free. I'll charge you for the next one."
He laughs. "I'm serious. Why did you kiss me?"
Dana says very honestly, "Because I think you're a sweet guy."
"Oh. Thanks." Richard sets his head down on his arms again, but decides to sit up. He grabs Dana's bottle of lotion and starts rubbing some on his chest. "Can you gimme a hand?" She smiles and sits up to help him coat his chest and arms. He squirts some of the stuff into her hands and she touches it to his chest, rubbing it down the little ridge between his pectorals and over his nipples. They face each other as he pours a little into his hands and rubs it blindly on her back.
"I hope you know that this is turning me on," she warns. Dana continues to rub down his ribs and across his stomach before going back up his chest to his neck. Richard's hands come to rest on her waist with little pressure as his eyes stare deep into hers.
"I was kind of hoping it would," he says softly. His strong but gentle hands hold her steady as he moves closer. "I hope that didn't sound too wicked."
Her fingers leave his neck and dance delicately across his soft lips. "No. You sound honest." She leans in a little, hoping that he'll do the same. Richard takes one hand from her hips and sets it on her cheek.
"I am," he says as he leans in and meets her lips in a gentle head-on collision. Dana constricts her arms just a touch to let him know that she wants him there. Richard separates his lips just a little so their mouths can hug one another. His heart is pounding madly as his mind all but fizzles out from sensory overload. As they back away from each other, he asks, "How many men have you killed with that kiss?"
She laughs as she says, "You're my first victim." They continue to kneel and stare into each others eyes.
"Wanna... try the waves again?"
"Yeah. Maybe we'll have better luck now." Richard stands up and helps Dana up to her feet. They grab their boards and run down to the shoreline and paddle their way out to sea again. The current has picked up considerably and the waves are swelling nicely. Richard picks out a curl he likes and jumps on it. Dana sits on her board and watches him slice his way towards shore. As she does, she can't help but dream about his body; how tanned he is, how strong he looks, how soft and smooth his skin is. Here she is on the beach, dreaming about a man she hasn't known for more than 48 hours. She continues her fantasizing as she catches a wave.
"What'd I tell ya, love," says Richard. "We were just tryin' too early, that's all."
"Better too early than never, don't you think?" she asks with a playful grin. Richard paddles himself over next to her and kisses her.
"Of course."
Dana and Richard surf all morning long, forgetting about lunch until 3:30 in the afternoon. When they do come ashore, the two of them spend time laying together on the blanket and laughing and talking about whatever comes to mind. Both of them have a genuine interest in each other, and it's only going to get hotter from there.
Around 7 o'clock, the beach has emptied and the sun started to sink in the western sky, painting a breathtaking sunset in orange, red, yellow, and purple. Without saying a word, Richard stands up and extends a hand down to Dana. She rises and holds his hand as he leads them slowly down to the water's edge for a walk along the beach. Dana's eyes were glued to Richard's chest as his open shirt flaps in the warm breeze. He glances at her and smiles.
"You know," she says, "you're the first guy I've ever let walk with me along the beach."
"The first?"
"Yeah. I usually go for walks alone, you know, to clear my head. But I'd much rather let you cloud my vision." Richard smiles again and pulls her closer to him as they continue walking.
"I feel the same way about you, too." He takes her by the hands and stops walking. "Dana, do you believe in love at first sight?"
She lets out a nervous giggle. "I'm not sure. I thought that only happened in fairy tales."
He steps closer. "Then this must be the most fantastic fairy tale of all time." He strokes her cheek and says, "Dana, I fell head over heels in love the moment I saw you."
Her ears were burning from his sweet words. "Oh, Richard." She wraps her arms around his neck as he lowers his mouth to hers. Dana opens her mouth to him, letting him taste her deeply, passionately. He slowly flicks his tongue in and out of her mouth as she runs her hands through his hair.
"Dana darlin'," says Richard, "say you'll be my Beauty, the love whom I've kissed awake from a deep slumber."
"Yes, Richard. Keep me awake forever." She covers his mouth with hers as his arms squeeze her gently. As she eases her lips off of his, he sees a hungry look in her eyes so clear and definite, it could have easily drowned out an air raid siren's shrill if she had spoken the words. He takes her hands and leads her back to their blanket where they kiss again, just as passionate as before. Dana keeps one hand buried in his hair as the other wanders down his back, coming to rest in the back pocket of his shorts. She presses her fingertips into his tight flesh just a little, making Richard jump with excitement. He breaks off kissing her neck.
"Dana, wait," he says as he steps back a hair.
"Why? Don't you want me, Richard?"
"My God, yes. But I don't wanna move too fast-"
Dana puts one finger over his soft lips. "Exactly. I want you to go slow. I like it slow."
"Dana, you're a special woman. I don't want to rush you into anything you're not ready for. Do you understand?"
She looks into his gray eyes, sparkling with controlled lust, and says, "I understand." Then reality hits her for a moment. "God, you must think I'm cheap. Trying to-"
"Of course not. I just don't want to make you uncomfortable. That's all." Richard runs his thick fingers through her long sun-bleached hair. He smiles and whispers, "I'll make love to you. All you have to do is... tell me when."
She runs her hands up his naked chest. "Now." Dana presses her mouth onto his and sinks her tongue into his mouth, feeling his tongue squirm around more furiously than before. Their passion was just starting to boil. Richard, with Dana in his arms, leans back against his dunebuggy and lets her do what she wants. She pulls back her tongue and steps back to look him square in the face. Slowly she approaches his chest, her teeth dragging along him and her mouth sucking on his salty skin. Her lips could feel his moans vibrate through his chest, her ears listen to his soul sing. Richard lets go of her and sets his hands on the side of his buggy, tossing his head back and closing his eyes. His breathing is becoming louder but slower, each breath getting longer than the one before.
"Oooh," he moans. He looks down at her as she works her way back up his body. His eyes are half-closed. "Lemme kiss your mouth," he says breathlessly. She smiles as she rushes to oblige. Deeply and slowly he tastes her, savoring the traces of salt from his body. He lets his hands go up to her shoulders, his fingers gently pulling the thin straps of her bikini top down. Dana doesn't put up the slightest bit of resistance as Richard unfastens the top and tosses it on the blanket. Barely touching her, his fingertips just graze the very tips of her erect nipples before they clutch her full breasts gently. His mouth leaves hot kisses down her neck before he quickly buries his face in her chest. Richard leans forward, making Dana bend over backwards a bit, and continues to suckle on her. He nibbles gently and tweaks her nipples with his tongue. As he continues to kiss her chest, his hands slip underneath the sides of her bikini bottoms and start to work them down.
"Ooooh, yeah," she moans with a slight grin. Richard slides his hands around to her ass as he pushes her bottoms further south. He begins kneading her backside as she starts to rock against him, which helps remove her bottoms. Looking her straight in the eyes, Richard holds her ass and lifts her up, turns around, and sets her on the trunk of the dunebuggy. Dana leans back on her hands as Richard looks up at her as he again kisses her chest, sensuously working his way down to her stomach. His hands reach up and fondle her breasts as he kisses around the small patch of hair between her thighs. She lays back completely and hold his hands to her breasts. He slides his hands out from under hers and lifts her thighs up and sets them on his shoulders, his lips marking the insides of them with wet, tender kisses. He looks at her seductively before he lets his lips tease her nethermouth. Dana gasps and moans as Richard begins lapping her sex, alternating between slow, penetrating licks and savage tongue taps as his hands massage her breasts and thighs and stroke her whole body. She reaches down and runs a hand through his hair just as he slurps her swollen node in between his lips. "Oh, God!" she gasps as she lays back down.
"Is this what you needed?" he asks as he backs away for a breath.
"Yes. I need you," she pants, "I need your cock inside me." He smiles and retreats from her for a second. Dana sits up to watch him slide his swim trunks off, unwrapping the large pleasure pole that she is soon to be impaled upon. "Come here and lemme ride that long board."
Richard steps forward again and smiles as he grabs her hips and scoots her down so he can reach her. And with one swift, smooth move, he enters her and begins his slow, deep rub. She can feel his muscle throb within her as he moves in and out. Dana looks at Richard as he hovers above her and kisses him intimately, tasting her musky juice still on his tongue. "Yes, that's it. Stroke me..."
Richard can tell by the way she's moving under him that she wasn't lying about wanting him right then. She moans and pants openly every time he touches her just right. He stands up a little and stops thrusting, pulling her off the trunk and turns her around. He plunges into her depths again, this time stroking her from behind. With one hand on the trunk lid and the other around Richard's waist, Dana turns her head to face him as far as she can. He kisses her as best he can at the awkward angle, kissing his way down to her ear. He pushes her hair away from her neck and starts kissing it as he moves inside her. He lets out a moan and throws his head back. Richard starts to drill faster and harder as he feels himself nearing that point of magnificent pleasure and release. He lets go of her hips to reach underneath and fondle her breasts. As his fingers tweak her nipples, her sensual spell begins and runs like a freight train out of control. As her moans and cries of pure ecstasy fill his ears, Richard's body stiffens as he floods her. Feeling his fluids rush deep into her like a hot river only intensifies her orgasm. Her tight nethermouth draws on him still, miraculously keeping him hard and drawing more from him. He can't believe that he's still banging her with the same urgent fury as before. A few seconds later, he growls and unloads again with the same amount of force. Completely spent, Richard leans on Dana as she leans on the buggy. He kisses her back softly before his face comes to rest on her shoulder, his hands reaching out and taking hers. She can feel his heart pounding against her back.
"Oh, Richard," she pants. "That was wonderful."
"You were wonderful," he corrects, kissing her cheek as he laughs softly. He carefully stands back and grabs his shorts. As he puts them on, he says, "I don't think I've ever felt this good my whole life."
Dana puts her bikini back on and smiles. "Neither have I." She walks over to him and puts her arms around him, kissing his mouth. "So, does this mean you and I are just friends or are we friends who have sex?"
Before he answers, he kisses her. "I'd say you're my girlfriend. Having sex with a friend is like... having sex with a sibling." He shudders with disgust, making her laugh. "That is, of course, if want me as a boyfriend?"
She teases him by rolling her eyes. "Oh, gee. I don't know..." As they both laugh, she says, "Are you kidding? I'd love for you to be my boyfriend." They stare at each other lovingly for a moment. "Wow. I have a boyfriend."
"Uh huh. And I got a girlfriend." He kisses her gently on the lips. "Such a beautiful girlfriend." As they stand together, holding each other close, they watch as the sun continues to drop from sight. "Whatdya say, love? Should we call it a day and head for home?"
"Yeah. Wanna come back tomorrow?"
He bends down and picks up their towels. "Nah, let's try another beach. Maybe we can find one with some... private coves."
"Oooh, that sounds like fun." Once everything's packed up, Richard helps her in and kisses her before he runs around the other side and hops in.
That fall, Dana returned to the familiar routine of school, finding it hard to let go of the spectacular summer. She and Richard continued to see each other as often as they could, going to the beach or to the movies, or just sitting in his living room together in each others arms. As she promised him, she would go down to the surf shop every weekend and see him on her way to the beach. Even though her parents didn't approve of her seeing an older man, they were happy to see her in a happy and seemingly stable relationship. In all honesty, they couldn't think of any other reason why they couldn't continue seeing each other.
So let me ask you... do you believe in love at first sight?
