Dr. Quinn Episode Guide (seasons 1 and 2)

Pilot (1/1/93)

Dr. Michaela "Mike" Quinn of Boston gets off to a rocky start in setting up a practice in the small wild west town of Colorado Springs. Mike makes the difficult adjustment to life in Colorado and to convince the townspeople that a woman can actually practice medicine. After her only friend, Charlotte Cooper (Diane Ladd) dies, she is left with Charlotte's three children, becoming one of Michaela’s greatest and most terrific challenges of all.

First Season (16 episodes)

1. Epidemic (1/2/93) Mike works feverishly against a flu epidemic that isolates the town and causes panic among the residents.

2. The Visitor (1/9/93)

Mike's estranged mother (Jane Wyman) visits, but she and Mike are still miles apart. Meanwhile, Robert E is injured in a fire.

3. Law of the Land (1/16/93)

A gunslinger (Johnny Cash) arrives looking for a quiet town in which to hang 'em up, but Colorado Springs is itching to lynch an immigrant (Christopher Keene Kelly) for cattle rustling to feed his starving family.

4. The Healing (1/23/93)

A bitter Loren, who blames Sully for his daughter's death, tries to repossess Dr. Mike's cabin when he learns he still owns the deed.

5. Father's Day (1/30/93)

As Dr. Quinn is trying to persuade the townspeople that smallpox vaccinations are necessary, the father of Brain, Colleen, and Matthew arrives.

6. Bad Water (2/6/93)

Dr. Mike threatens a wealthy mining baron (Michael Cavanaugh) when mercury from his mine contaminates the town's water supply and causes illness in the community.

7. The Great American Medicine Show (2/13/93)

When a medicine-show man (Robert Culp) arrives in town, selling an elixir he claims will cure anything, Dr. Mike becomes determined to prove him a fraud. Meanwhile, she is also faced with a medical crisis involving Myra.

8. A Cowboy's Lullaby (2/20/93)

A thieving cowhand (John Schneider) rides into town and quickly disappears after robbing Loren's store and leaving his sick baby with Dr. Mike.

9. Running Ghost (2/27/93)

When Sully is beaten and left for dead by skinners who are slaughtering buffalo, Dr. Mike fears he may be paralyzed. Tate Rankin: Don Stroud. Thaddeus Birch: Andrew Prine.

10. The Prisoner (3/13/93)

After General Custer (Darren Dalton) injures Cloud Dancing and sentences him to hang, Dr. Mike and Sully plan his escape. Meanwhile, Matthew has his eye on Ingrid.

11. Happy Birthday (3/27/93)

A lonely Dr. Mike believes the whole town feels sorry for her as she prepares to celebrate another birthday as an unmarried woman. Jake goes on a binge after his carelessness leads to a man's death.

12. Rite of Passage (4/10/93)

Matthew's wedding plans with Ingrid cause a rift between him and Mike, who thinks he's too young, therefore, in order to prove he's a man, Matthew goes through a Cheyenne rite of passage.

13. Heroes (5/1/93)

Influenced by romance novels, Colleen develops a crush on Sully and endangers her life when she sets up a situation in which he must rescue her.

14. The Operation (5/8/93)

Dr. Mike is forced to operate on Brian after he suffers a severe head injury; the townspeople argue over the construction of a new school.

15. The Secret (5/15/93)

When one of Dr. Mike's patients dies and leaves behind an illegitimate child (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Hank is forced to admit he is the boy's father.

16. Portraits (5/22/93)

When a famous Civil War photographer (Kenny Rogers) arrives to take a town portrait, he is delayed by bickering, and Dr. Mike discovers he is going blind.

Second Season (27 episodes)

17. The Race (9/25/93)

Mike disguises herself as a man to enter the Territory Stakes race and clashes with a Denver doctor (Jerry Hardin) over the treatment of his injured rider. Brian enters a baking contest. Snow Bird: Tantoo Cardinal

18. Sanctuary (10/2/93) New character - Dorothy

Dorothy Jennings, Loren's sister-in-law, is convicted of murder when she defends herself against her husband's (Wayne Grace) assault. She finds a sensitive advocate in Mike. Mike performs an autopsy to prove Dorothy's innocence. Marcus: Wayne Grace. Curtis: Gary Hershberger.

19. Halloween (10/30/93)

Mike wrestles with her feelings about Sully when she confronts the spirit of his late wife, Abigail, who haunts the homestead during Halloween. Abigail: Megan Gallivan.

20. The Incident (11/6/93)

Sully and Mike search for the truth about a hunting accident involving Jake and the death of a Cheyenne brave. Black Kettle: Nick Ramus

21. Saving Souls (11/13/93)

Kid Cole (Johnny Cash) meets a faith healer (June Carter Cash), who gets a cold reception from Mike; and prejudice dogs Grace and Robert E's wedding plans. Joe: Heath Kizzier. Ned: Robert Keith

22. Where The Heart Is Part 1 (11/20/93)

When Michaela receives word that her mother (Georgann Johnson) is in the hospital, she returns to Boston with the children and makes her own diagnosis. Meanwhile, she finds a suitor in her mother's doctor progressive young partner. Edward Albert: Dr. William Burke.

23. Where The Heart Is Part 2 (11/20/93)

Sully's arrival causes a stir in Boston, where Mike is feeling at home. Dr. Burke proposes marriage, offering Mike a partnership in love as well as work, but Sully has other plans, mounting a whirlwind courtship for Mike's heart.

24. Giving Thanks (11/27/93)

Sully shows Mike his world and she realizes she made the right choice in returning from Boston, while a drought threatens and divides the town before Thanksgiving. Mike thinks the Cheyenne can help the town, but Jake and Loren distrust them.

25. Best Friends (12/4/93)

Dorothy shows signs of menopause, while Colleen shows signs of romance, put there by a boy with whom her new best friend is also smitten. However, misunderstandings abound when Michaela thinks Sully may be fooling around with her best friend, Dorothy. Becky: Haylie Johnson. Richard: Thomas Ian Nicholas. Alice: Andrea Bakkum.

26. Sully's Choice (12/11/93)

While Dr. Mike's away treating an influenza outbreak, a misunderstanding leads the cavalry to place a bounty on Sully; Matthew, Colleen and Brian hide their injured friend.

27. Mike's Dream: A Christmas Tale (12/18/93)

Mike, mired in a Christmas Eve career/identity crisis, is visited by a friendly angel - the Cooper kids' deceased mom, Charlotte. Charlotte takes Mike on a trip to the past, present and future. On this journey, Mike concludes that the choices and decisions she's made for her career and life are the right ones. Charlotte: Diane Ladd

28. Crossing the Line (1/1/94)

Sully and Michaela must attempt to rescue Matthew when he is trapped by a cave-in after going to work in the mines during a local miners strike, so he can finish his homestead. Loren refuses credit to strikers, prompting a boycott of his store.

29. The Offering (1/8/94)

Mike and Sully unwittingly aid the U.S. government in giving typhus infected blankets to the Cheyenne, then must help fight the disease. Colonel Egan: John Reger.

30. The Circus (1/15/94)

Mother/daughter issues are explored when Heart and Atlantis—a rag-tag mother/daughter circus team—comes to Colorado Springs. Inner and outer wounds are shared and healed when Mike and Atlantis help Colleen overcome her fear of performing in front of crowds. Dr. Mike helps Heart realize that it's a bond of love, not affliction, that binds she and Atlantis when Mike performs a successful operation to separate Atlantis' webbed fingers. 31. Another Woman (1/22/94)

Catherine, a beautiful blond woman captured by and raised with renegade Indians, is brought to Colorado Springs by soldiers when her tribe is wiped out and she's the sole surviving member. Friction develops between Mike and Sully when Catherine falls in love with him, and he seems to respond. Meanwhile, Dorothy starts dating Jake, inciting Loren's jealousy. Catherine: Sheryl Lee

32. Orphan Train (1/29/94)

Matthew, Colleen and Brian feel neglected when Dr. Mike and the Rev. Johnson search for families that will adopt the newly arrived eight orphans. Mike also considers a marriage proposal from the Reverend in order to provide the orphans with an instant family.

33. Buffalo Soldiers (2/5/94)

Sully and Michaela scout for information that will prevent further bloodshed when the Buffalo Soldiers arrive to confront renegade Indians. Meanwhile, Mike must teach Colleen the difference between good and bad lying when Colleen cheats on a history test. Carver: Dorian Harewood. Turrell: Spencer Garrett.

34. Luck of the Draw (3/5/94)

Dr. Mike and Sully try to dissuade Matthew when a slick card shark (Craig Wasson) teaches him to gamble and he believes he's found an easy way to make money. Meanwhile, Brian strives valiantly to earn money to set a captured eagle free, only to be terribly disappointed when the eagle doesn't immediately avail himself of his newly regained freedom.

35. Life and Death (3/12/94)

Tom Jennings, Dorothy's Civil War Veteran son, comes to Colorado Springs. Dr. Mike clashes with Dorothy when Mike acts to protect her family from her friend's desperate son, who is addicted to morphine. Tom Jennings: Matthew Letscher.

36. The First Circle (3/26/94)

A Denver banker (George Furth) brings the Ku Klux Klan to Colorado Springs to find new members and trys to force Robert E to leave his home which he purchased at and auction which sits in the middle of town.

37. Just One Lullaby (4/9/94)

Rev. Johnson's in love with the town's new schoolteacher (Sherry Hursey). However, when some of the schoolchildren seek medical attention, Dr. Mike suspects the new teacher may be abusing them. With Ross Malinger.

38. The Abduction Part 1 (4/30/94)

While visiting the Indian reservation, Mike and Sully see renegade Dog Soldiers shoot some Cavalry men and they get caught in the crossfire. Mike is kidnaped in revenge when the Indians discover she told Custer what happened; Sully vows to find her. Meanwhile, Brian falls in love with a horse Hank wins in a poker game. Custer: Jason Adams.

39. The Abduction Part 2 (4/30/94)

Sully sets out to rescue Mike. Meanwhile, Custer takes the Indian reservation hostage, threatening to hang everyone unless Mike is returned. Brian works off the cost of the little horse; but Hank reneges on the deal, inciting Loren's wrath.

40. The Campaign (5/7/94)

Horace nominates Dr. Mike to run for mayor against Jake, sparking a debate over women's rights to vote and hold office. Meanwhile, Myra finally breaks loose from Hank.

41. The Man in the Moon (5/14/94)

When Myra finally leaves the business, Hank flies into a drunken rage and shoots up the town, ending up in a coma under Dr. Mike's care. Only the town's love for the infinitely unlovable Hank can pull him from the brink of the deadly coma. Meanwhile, Colleen and Brian tangle when Grandma Quinn sends Brian but not Colleen a present.

42. Return Engagement Part 1 (5/21/94)

When "Andrew Strauss"—really David Lewis—the fiancé whom Mike had presumed was killed in the Civil War, visits Colorado Springs. Mike is forced to choose between him and Sully. Also, Horace and Myra experience pre-nuptial tension when townsfolk start taking over the planning of their wedding for them. Andrew Strauss/David Lewis: Maxwell Caulfield.

43. Return Engagement Part 2 (5/21/94)

Mike is torn between two lovers when, in a blast from the past, her presumed-dead Civil War fiancé, David Lewis, whirls into town to reclaim Mike from the arms of Sully, her current fiancé. Also, Horace keeps "losin' the mood" when it comes time to consummate his marriage with Myra.
