Something to Think About

The following is something I've been wanting to say for a long time, especially to all those people who keep asking for Emma's email!

Emma Watson Before the Movie.

Potter Mania is everywhere and the movie is still going strong at the #1 spot. HP toys are being sold everywhere and it will probably be that way until Christmas season is over. The Internet is no different. Everyone seems to be creating a shrine for their favourite characters/actors. I guess I'm just as guilty, with my Emma page.

When I first started my page in mid October, I usually got a couple emails, saying, "Nice site, you're Emma obsessed, aren't you?" or along those lines. Am I really Emma obsessed?

I guess I could be, but I'm not like a lot of people. Actually, I think I'm more Hermione obsessed. My site started out as, The Unofficial Hermione Granger Page, but I changed it because I had a hard time finding an Emma fan site. I felt that she deserved some credit because of all the other Rupert and Daniel sites floating around.

Lately, I've been coming across a lot of emails asking for Emma's email address. I even got a couple threats saying that if I didn't give it up, I would lose my site. (I really didn't believe them!) However, they did get me a little freaked out and I began to wonder - How obsessed are these people?

From the Toronto Sun Newspaper: "Emma Watson can seem so poised, so self-possessed that it's hard to remember she's only 11 years old. Until, that is, she is seen stepping outside for a walk and a quick cry, taking a break from dozens of media interviews scheduled back-to-back for two days."

Don't these people know that beneath the tangled Hermione hair and under the Hogwarts robes, there is an 11 year old girl named Emma Watson, who is a normal person with feelings and stuff? Imagine being 11 and having everyone know your face? What were your biggest problems at that age? I bet you didn't worry about creepy people stalking you or emailing you 24/7. I'm not saying that all you guys will do that, but it has happened to many celebrities before.

Emma having fun!

So, before you ask for her email, think about why you want it. If you want to just to say what a wonderful person she is, then by all means, you can just write her a kind fan letter by mail. Email can be just a little too personal and desperate.

So remember, Emma has a life outside of HP. She may be Hermione Granger on the screen, but off, she's 11 year old Emma Watson, a real person (and still is) before all this.

PS - As of this day, I will delete every email asking for her email address, so don't even bother anymore.
