Back

This was the last show, for a few weeks. The guys were tired, but we didn't see that, until after the show. They still gave us everything they had, and more. My friend and I had  5th row seats, thanks to Mary Mary and her mom. I will always be grateful.

Since it was the last show, for the east coast anyway, we got to see a little more than some of the other performances. They played the longer intro that we had heard in the spring. They sang a few songs that they eventually left out of the summer tour, and they played three encore songs, instead of the two that they had normally been playing.

Micky's voice was still beautiful and strong. That boy can really belt out a song. He was wearing his leather pants, and still made this old girl drool...He sang all his old standards, gave us a little "light" opera, and then sang "Since I Fell."  Played the tympani, as usual, and got behind the drums for a few songs. Whatta guy!!!

If Peter wasn't having fun this summer, then he deserves an Academy Award. He laughed and giggled through out the whole show. And those red shoes are such a hoot....He only played three instruments in this show.  Guitar, keyboard and banjo...I love to hear him sing "Higher and Higher" and "Lucille."  And his rendition of "Two Part Invention in F" by Johann Sebastian Bach ( also called "Puff Bach Daddy" by Micky) is really a killer...

Davy sang his "Brady Bunch" song, "Girl" and some of his "Oliver" songs. I love that "Oliver" stuff, and the song that he sings for his mom, "Is You Is." He chatted and joked with the audience, and as always, charmed the socks off us...Reminded us that he was our first love, (and maybe our last...)

I have had a really great summer, thanks to the Monkees, and all the Monkee fans that I've met. Some have been quite sedate, and others have been a little scary. But all in all, the Monkees' fans are a lovable bunch.

You have no idea how much you all mean to me...I won't ever forget any of you. (And you know who you are...)
