Téa For Two: OLTL’s Howarth Out, Lozano In
When One Life to Live fans last saw Téa Delgado, she was tremulously accepting Todd’s hand…to get the heck out of Llanview, back in February 2000. Todd (and his portrayer, Roger Howarth) returned that summer, but there’s been virtually no word from the woman he once paid $5 million to marry him (so he could get custody of Starr from Blair).
Until now. In an exclusive announcement to Digest, an ABC spokesperson has confirmed that Florencia Lozano has inked a deal to return – for an unspecified amount of time – to her role as Téa. When? So far, no first air date has been released, but expect the big reunion to occur this spring, perhaps as early as April. And what a coincidence that it’s all happening just as a spokesperson for Howarth has confirmed that the actor is getting ready to leave again “in June.”
As previously reported, and expanded upon on his Official Fan Club Web site, while Howarth’s contract ends in May, he will now stay through June to ‘tie up storyline for the show and his character.’ Assuming Lozano’s return is also a brief one, expect her to leave right around that time, too. Last year, it wouldn’t have seemed likely: Both Executive Producer Gary Tomlin and Lozano denied any interest in her returning to the show. Said Tomlin regarding the possibility, ‘No. When I first came in I got, like, 78 letters from three people [about Téa]. There isn’t any plan for that.’ But he hedged: ‘I’m not saying that couldn’t happen in the long range.’ And Lozano, for her part, wasn’t interested in revisiting the character. ‘Three years was plenty. It’s very challenging during that time to see if you can do it. I want to be challenged in other ways,’ she told Digest last summer. Still, she admitted having a stable paycheck was a consideration. ‘That’s a big deal,’ she said.
Will the two walk off into the sunset together? So far, there’s no word on plot developments. Fans have been speculating that Ms. Delgado could return with another little Manning, although that seems an unlikely setup because Todd just had his second tot with Blair. But there’s no doubt – however Téa returns to town, sparks will fly in all directions.
