OLTL fans resisted Todd being paired with anyone other than Blair. Interloper Téa Delgado not only didn’t have any kind of backstory with Todd, she was breaking up OLTL’s most popular (if unorthodox) duo. Yet Florencia Lozano’s consistently strong and convincing portrayal of the tough-talking yet soft-hearted attorney has won us over. Lozano gives her all in every sense - whether Téa’s litigating, putting Todd in his place or tucking baby Starr in bed. (By the way, Ariella and Natalie Jamnik, who play Starr, seem to love their on-screen step-mother.)
Beneath her hardened outer shell, Téa is just a fragile human being who has lots of love to give and is dying to be loved herself. Thus, Téa was livid when Todd accused her of causing Starr to fall and hit her head. "Take your festering paranoia somewhere else. I am through being your dumping ground." Realizing the error of his ways, sort of, Todd managed a half-hearted apology. Téa didn’t buy it, and delivered an ultimatum to her hubby ... "Human up, or I’m gone."
What’s most engaging about Lozano’s performance is that we never know how she’s going to act in any situation. One moment, Téa’s fiery and enraged, the next, she’s soft-spoken and understanding. Roger Howarth portrays Todd in the same way, and that’s what makes Téa and Todd’s relationship work. Every scene with them is a surprise. Lozano has proven time and time again that she can hold her own with Howarth, one of daytime’s finest actors. You go, Flo!
