Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me. That’s what was probably going through Téa’s head this week, when she suffered the shock and humiliation of (1) Todd walking out on their wedding, and (2) hearing the tape in which Todd admitted that he didn’t have dissociative identity disorder.
After Todd interrupted the ceremony, a furious Téa hurled both her bouquet and a few choice epithets at him as she ran out. "How could you do this? How could I be so stupid?" Téa cried, tears streaming down her face. Florencia Lozano didn’t stand still once in those scenes, racing around the room as if she was trying to find a door with a neon "Escape Todd Manning" sign above it. But for Téa, there was no escape. Todd returned and apologized, and the ceremony proceeded.
Although Téa was no longer hysterical, Lozano kept the continuity believable by wearing an expression of distrust as Téa walked down the aisle a second time. As the couple exchanged vows, Lozano’s face regained the glow of a blushing bride. The proverbial bloom was soon off the rose however, when the tape was broadcast. In a voice meek wit the pain that only comes when you finally get it, Téa called Todd what he is: a rapist of people’s bodies and souls. Despite the extremely emotional material, she was given to play not once did Lozano cross the line into scenery chewing. Simply put, she was heartbreaking.
