Chapter 2*~

Cat

“Cat can you get the door?”

“Yes mommy!” Catalina skipped towards the front door and slowly opened it. When she saw who it was a wide smile formed on her lips. “Daddy!!!”

“Hey princess!” Justin smiled and picked her up; placing a kiss on her cheek. “How are ya shorty?”

“Good!” She giggled as he tickled her.

“Where’s your mother?” Justin asked and closed the door behind himself and sat Catalina down.

          “She’s upstairs getting ready.”

          “For??”

“Drew is taking me and her out.”

          “Drew? Who’s Drew?”

          “Mommy’s boyfriend silly...” She frolicked.

“I didn’t know your mother had a boyfriend...” Justin shrugged. “Well she doesn’t tell me much of anything anyway.” Justin looked at Catalina. “I’ll be back ok?”

          “Ok,”

Justin went up the long spiral staircase and took a turn around a corner and walked into the bedroom where Aaliyah was brushing her hair in front of a floor length mirror. “So I didn’t know you had a boyfriend...”

Aaliyah turned around with her hand up to her chest in shock. She rolled her eyes and shrugged. “Have you ever heard of calling before you come?”

“You know what, I know your mother taught you some manners, so why don’t you use some.”

“Well sadly enough honey, it doesn’t apply to you.” Aaliyah pushed her hair over her shoulder and walked towards him and looked him in his eyes. “Why did you come here?”

          “To see you and Cat...”

“Really? How sweet of you...” Aaliyah looked away and shrugged. “I guess I can give you a few points for stopping by. So how’s Beyonce and the kids?”

“Good, she told me to tell you hi...but moving on, how are you?”

“I’m good actually. I’m feeling great lately.”

“That’s good, it has something to do with that Drew guy right?”

“Maybe...” Aaliyah smiled and shrugged. “He does seem to lift my spirits. He’s a good guy.”

          “But do you love him?”

Aaliyah turned around and shrugged. “Why does it matter? It’s none of your business.”

“You have always been feisty, and it just never seems to change.” Justin shook his head. “Well since you are supposed to be going out, I’ll come back later.”

          “Ok, be careful.”

“I will.” He kissed her on her cheek and watched as she smiled. It had been a really long time since Aaliyah had last smiled at him. She wouldn’t even talk to him, but it seemed like she was softening up. He couldn’t deny that he still loved her, and she knew that she loved him, but it seemed as if, it didn’t really matter, because once you moved on, there was no looking back right?

~*4 months later *~

I'm on a high, I feel like I'm on medication, I'm open wide, and we don't need no complications, Cause I feel alright, And all I see is red lights, and blue lights, and street lights, And it's real life, is that a sign” Aaliyah sang as she cut up some onions and green pepper. She looked over her shoulder at Drew and Catalina who were spicing a few chicken breasts. She smiled as they laughed. Drew was such a sweetheart and Catalina really liked him, he spent more time with her than Justin ever did. But then again, Justin was always too busy for them.

          “Daddyyyyyyy pleasssseeeeeeee!”

“Cat not now...” Justin looked at her with agitated look.

          “But daddy, you pwomised.”

“I know, I’m sorry, but I have more important stuff to do.”

Catalina looked at him and shook her head as she ran out with tears streaming down her face. They always said rejection was painful.

Aaliyah shook her head as she walked in the room and up to Justin. “I hope you’re happy! You don’t make fucking promises you can’t keep Justin!” Aaliyah yelled and was surprised when he turned around and grabbed her wrist. She tried to avoid his eyes but she couldn’t help but look into his now cold looking eyes.

Catalina turned around at the sound of a scream and went dashing down the hall where she saw...

“And so the beautiful princess lived happily ever after, the end.” Aaliyah kissed Catalina on her forehead and pulled her blanket up. “Goodnight Cat...”

“Good night mommy...Mommy, do you think you’ll marry Drew?”

“Umm I don’t know honey. Why?”

“I think you should, he’s really nice, and he loves you.”

Aaliyah smiled and shrugged. “Who knows, we’ll see.” Drew had proposed to her and she said she had to think about it. Obviously Cat thought it was a good idea, but she didn’t know what to say. Maybe she was better off saying yes....
