Summary: This is generally thought of as a Ben Reed solo career release under the Nocturnal Mucus Envelope name(sorta like NIN). This is actually the first full length Nocturnal Mucus Envelope album. The album is half originals/half covers. Through the cover songs you can get an idea of Ben Reed's and the band's biggest influences. As the album suggests, it has a very Lo-fi sound(all tracks recorded to a 4 track cassette recorder almost entirely in Ben Reed's kitchen w/acoustic guitar)which works well for mood of the songs on the album. "Live Bees being the most Hi-fi sounding piece of art on this album, as it was digitally altered with silly noises and samples galore(think Folk Implosion's "Naturnal One" mixed w/The Jesus and Mary Chain and NIN). A quality album in my opinion but there is so much more to come!
