the soundtrack to Dick Tracy, “Hanky Panky” is the only single to
be released from the album,
other than the last-minute addition of “Vogue”.
Despite reaching
the top 10, “Hanky Panky” is
likely Madonna’s most forgotten single.
Released in-between
the massive hits “Vogue” and
“Justify My Love”, and without a proper promotional video, it is
apparent why so few fans even
remember the song.
The 1930’s style show tune
does, however, feature some of the raunchiest, most sexual lyrics
to be found in any of
Madonna’s work. In the song, Madonna
talks about how she likes a good
spanking and the line, “some
guys like to sweet talk, and others, they like to tease, tie my hands
behind my back and, ooooh,
I’m in ecstasy”, perhaps foreshadows the downright vulgar, sado-
