“Keep It Together”, the final release from Like A Prayer, was the first of Madonna's singles

to be released in the 1990’s.  The song marked one of the few times the United States received

a single when other major territories did not.  Although “Keep It Together” was an undeniable

hit, peaking at #8 and selling over 500,000 copies, it failed to become a Madonna staple and

is largely unmemorable today.  The lack of a video and the fact that the song lacked the

dynamic sound and message of the other Like A Prayer singles allowed the track to be

easily lost amongst some of Madonna’s biggest career moments as she entered the 90’s.

Nonetheless, “Keep It Together” served as the finale for Madonna’s 1990 Blonde Ambition

Tour and many fans appreciated the song’s simple celebration of family and togetherness.

“Don’t forget that your family is gold” and don’t ever forget that the single was certified gold

as well.
