THIS AIN'T Russell
Crowe's week, evidently. Everybody seems to be irritated
with the Oscar winner/Oscar nominee.
Now comes Dennis Quaid in the
April issue of Premiere:
"When [Crowe's movie] 'Proof of
Life' went in the tank, I wasn't really sad. Hey, he's a
really good actor. He probably deserved the Oscar from the
movie he did the year before ['The Insider']. I won't tell you
what I think of him as a person, though. That I'll leave
out." -- LIZ SMITH

Not one of 'em
AUSTRALIANS no longer claim Russell
Crowe. In light of his loutish behavior, Crowe, who
recently became an Aussie citizen, is now referred to Down
Under as "the New Zealand-born actor." At Tuesday's
Sydney premiere of "A Beautiful Mind," Crowe
defended his confrontation with the director who cut short his
BAFTA speech. "Inside Edition" aired footage of
Crowe saying, "I don't feel that I need to apologize to
him. I believe in everything I said and I'll stand by
it." -- PageSix

The bad blood continues
between Russell Crowe and aging diva Joan Collins.
Scoop readers will recall that not long ago, Collins declared
that she found the hunky “Gladiator” star “not
good-looking.” Crowe, apparently, isn’t a fan of Collins,
either. Recently, Crowe was about to receive a Silver Heart
Award from a British charity, but after finding out that the
former “Dynasty Star” was an earlier recipient, he refused
to get out of his seat to accept the award. “Joan
Collins?” the actor barked, according to IMDB.com. “You
can stick your silver heart up your a**, mate!” -- msnbc.com

HAVING to
answer questions has been known to make Russell Crowe a
tad on the cantankerous side but on this occasion he's bound
to be his most affable self.
The Coffs Harbour farmer has
personally organised an exclusive screening of A Beautiful
Mind to raise funds for the Institute of Respiratory
Medicine at the end of which he'll hold a Q & A session.
The 400 tickets to the special screening, on the same night as
the Sydney premiere, have all been snapped up.--Sydney Daily

Side Dishes
Russell Crowe is not — repeat not
— engaged to his on-and-off girlfriend Danielle Spencer, his
rep tells us. But odds are she'll be on his arm at the Oscars
on March 24, as she was last year. Spencer was shopping for a
gown in Rome last week. Crowe's agent didn't know whether
Spencer accompanied the "Gladiator" to Sweden
earlier in the week when he visited Nicole Kidman on the set
of her film "Dogville" ... -- NYDaily News

IT seems a little silly,
given the slew of awards and nominations they're now
receiving, but US reports suggest director Ron "Richie
the C" Howard and Coffs Harbour's finest actor Russell
Crowe were not the first choices for the much fancied A
Beautiful Mind. A report in the New York Post says
the project was to have Robert Redford in the
director's chair with Jim Carrey playing Nobel Prize
winner John Nash. Redford and Carrey didn't see eye to
eye, forcing the project on the back burner before Howard got
his hands on it.-- Daily Telegraph

Russell
Crowe may have won the hearts of millions of
females, but he's going to have to do a whole lot more
to gain Joan
Collins's approval. 'He is not handsome,' the
wig-wearing bride-to-be stated curtly in a recent
interview. 'George
Clooney is not, either,' she snapped. Who, other
than Argentinean beau Percy, could possibly make the
granny's grade? 'Brad
Pitt is pretty,' she conceded, although it's hard to
tell if she meant it as a compliment. Percy must feel
secure that an even younger man setting his sights on
his fiancee will have to be pretty special.--Peoplenews.com

The
Raunchy Replies Have It
Dear
Ted:
Russell Crowe is a magnificent specimen of the
rampant male. All of your columns should be about him or
should at least mention him. I was disappointed this week
not to see him.
Lizzie P.
Sag Harbor, New York
Dear Lizzie:
Did you mean to say "ravenous" male? Don't get the
rampant bit. That's sorta like saying men are horny.
Redundant, you know. Didn't mention R.C. because he behaved
himself so well at the Golden Globes, and I thought you
folks only liked the Thighmaster when he was flexing his
massive muscles, not giving them a rest. I'll keep that in
mind for the future.

IT may well have been a
mere formality but Russell Crowe, last year's Best
Actor Oscar winner, is a confirmed presenter for this year's
Academy Awards ceremony. The sometimes grumpy Coffs Harbour
resident, an absolute cert to take this year's gong for his
role in A Beautiful Mind, will present the award for
Best Actress. -- Daily Telegraph |
|
Russell Crowe
has been confirmed as a definite presenter at this years
Oscars. As winner of last year's Best Actor gong for Gladiator,
Big Russ is the official presenter for this year's Best
Actress award. Now, considering that Russell's close friend Nicole
Kidman is also a hot tip for Best Actress could we see an
Aussie celebration on the podium? Nominees will be announced
on February 12, while the ceremony takes place on March 24.
Stay tuned. -- NW |
