Buffy Ann Summers was born on January 19th, 1981, in Los Angeles. She went to Hemery High School in Los Angeles until she was expelled for burning down the gym, saying that she was saving the world as the gym was full of vampires at the time. During her time at Hemery High she discovered that she was the Chosen One, the Vampire Slayer, and her destiny was to save the world from the evil vampires and demons and all such creatures.
After being expelled from Hemery High, she moved to Sunnydale with her mum Joyce after her Watcher, Merrick, had been killed. At Sunnydale High School she soon made friends with the hugely popular girl Cordelia Chase, but once she started hanging around with the unpopular people, such as computer geek Willow Rosenberg and uncool Xander Harris, she was promptly dumped by Cordelia.
Buffy called into the library at the school and was understandably shocked when the librarian, Rupert Giles, slammed a book called "Vampyre" in front of her! It turned out that the very English librarian was to be her new Watcher and had been waiting for her to arrive. However, Buffy did eventually accept her destiny when she had to save her friend Jesse from a gang of vampires. Unfortunately, during this rescue, Xander accidentally turned his newly turned vamp friend into dust!
