Sarah Michelle Gellar was born on April 14th 1977 in New York. Her parents were called Arthur and Rosellen. Hr parents divorced in 1984 and Sarah was brought up by her mother. She refuses to acknowledge any relationship with Arthur, who died in 2001 of unknown causes. As a child, her best friend was Melissa Joan Hart who later played "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" so it could be a bit of a surprise when Sarah later become "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and fought the dark side, although she did have witches fighting alongside her!
As a child, Sarah appeared in over 100 commercials, the first being when she was just 4 years old. This ad was for Burger King and the company later got sued for this ad for saying that McDonalds burgers were smaller than theirs!
In 1992, she appeared in a teen soap called "Swans Crossing" and from there she moved into "All My Children". For her appearance in the latter, she won a day time Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actress in a Drama Series. Sarah left this series in 1995 and two years later she appeared in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" which would go on to make her a major name and would run for 7 years. During the run of Buffy she also appeared in a few movies including "Cruel Intentions", "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Scream 2".
After "Buffy" finished in 2002, Sarah went on to play Daphne in the live action movie versions of "Scooby-Doo". She married Freddie Prinze Jr in 2002 and played alongside him in both Scooby-Doo movies.
Sarah made a horror movie called "The Grudge" in 2004 but has slowed down somewhat since marrying Freddie.
