Who Could Say No to Ryan? How About His Mom!

Have you ever been totally annoyed with your parents because they wouldn't let you do something that you really, really wanted to do? Well, radiant Ryan Gosling feels your pain!

"Please, please, please, please, pleeaassee!" you beg your parents, whose ears seem to be plugged with pickles. "You just don't understand," you continue, "I absolutely have to do this!" But whatever you do, they refuse to see it your way. Eighteen-year-old Ryan Gosling knows what that's all about.

You see, Ryan's the natural-born-talent type--as if you didn't notice when you tuned in to the Fox Kids Network's Young Hercules. He's been singing and acting since he was a tiny tot. As a matter of fact, he and his big sis, Mandi, used to warble at weddings together. They even amassed a little bit of cash. "I got 10 bucks for singing to the bride," the Canadian babe boasts.

So it was a totally natural step for the studmuffin to want to get serious and make the leap from amateur act to high-paid pro. But, believe it or not, his mon, Donna, almost said no! "My mother sort of didn't want me to get into it," the blond-headed hottie explains to BOP, "because she didn't want me to, I don't know, change or anything like that."

Betcha can relate to the frustration he felt! But instead of storming around the house, Ryan says he waited it out. The young cutie kept his cool and just continued doing what he was doing--entering talent shows and entertaining his friends and family. Finally, when his mom decided he was good and ready, she gave him permission to go for it. Before he could blink, the then 12-year-old babester landed his first role on Disney's The Mickey Mouse Club. And his career hasn't stopped catapulting!

"Once I got into it, my mom really had an active part in it," Ryan happily dishes about her change of heart. That's because his super-smart mom waited until she felt her son was mature enough to handle all the pressure and publicity that comes with being a star. And Ryan's sure she knows what's best. "She was just looking out for me," he confesses.

Today Ryan's mom is still looking out for him! "She makes sure that I stay humble, hopefully," he says with an ear-to-ear smile. Believe us, Mom, Ryan's one of the most humble hotties out there!
