MWO Collins and his group of cadets demonstrated their acting abilities and more importantly their first aid skills during this dramatized portion of the afternoon.
The group demonstrated
what to do in to treat someone
who has a burn,
has received a fracture, is bleeding or who has stopped breathing.
This year the First Aid Display contained four scenarios ......
Out in the Wilderness
......
This
group of individuals were looking forward to an evening of fun as they
prepared their camp site. Unfortunately as one person prepared the fire
he got overcome, momentarily passing out and burning his arm. The first
aider was then challenged with proving first aid for a burn while ensuring
the casualty remained conscious.

Take me out to the
ball game .....
The
second scenario began with a group of friends playing a fun game of softball.
As one friend hit the ball another rounded the bases sliding into home
plate. Little did he know that someone had smashed a glass bottle in the
same area causing him to receive a large cut on his arm. The first aider
at the scene was faced with stopping the bleeding and properly dressing
the wound.

A day at the slopes
.......
As
winter reached its end a group of classmates decided to take to the ski
slopes one last time. As the day progressed the group ski down the hills,
big and small without any hesitation or trouble, until one person fell
down. As the first aider assisted the individual she found that he had
received a break in his lower leg. She proceeded to treat the casualty
as she had learned during her training.

Do you want to sleep
over tonight ? .........
After
a busy week a group of friends decided they would have a sleep over. After
they told stories, did their hair and were tormented by a little brother
they became hungry. They decided to make some toast. When the toast was
ready one of the girls ran to the kitchen, but she couldn't get the toast
out of the toaster. Unknowingly she used a knife to remove the snack, and
received an electric shock. Upon screaming the girl became unconscious
and one friend began to perform first aid.
