~*How Linda & Eomer Met*~

(under construction)

It had been a stormy night.
The loud cracking of thunder, and the sharp flashes of lightning, kept us alert
The clouds grew dark early yesterday, so I knew we were in for some nasty weather.
My body was sore and aching from darting here and there looking for food and trying to keep out of plain sight.
After a day like I had, trying to sleep by laying my head against cold stone, wasn't making me feel any better.
The nazgul had been after us for weeks.
It was almost impossible to shake them from our trail.
I was an involuntary leader of a small band of hobbits and humans that had escaped the doomed cities of middle earth.
I did my best to keep spirits high and bellies full.
As I let my mind wander, a small hobbit girl snuggled up close to me to try and keep warm.
She closed her eyes, and almost smiled as she drifted off to sleep.
As dawn approached, I realized I had let another night pass by without much sleep.
If I was to lead this group to safety, I couldn't continue at this pace.
I looked down. My eyes met the most adorable round brown eyes.
The little hobbit smiled as she stretched her arms up to hug me.
Somehow, this made my aches and pains fade ...though they weren't totally gone.
We had walked for hours, and the sun was high in the sky beating down on us with no mercy.
Water...we needed water.....not much, just enough to wet our dry lips.
I knew there was water ahead......somehow I could feel it.
As we neared the thicker part of the forest, we heard it!
AHHHHH water! I thought to myself.
We reached a small waterfall, with a collective pool at its base.
The young ones ran to the pool and thirstily drank to their hearts content!
I relaxed under a tall tree.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw movement in the brush.
I jumped to my feet!
Slowly emerging from the thicket, was a beautiful tall elf boy.
His skin was like a cool grey moon, his eyes deep and captivating.

For a moment I was mesmerized by the sight before me
He spoke, and asked my name.
Cheerfully, he said that his name was Kyody.
I told him that I was Linda, from Rohan.
"You look rather famished", he said.
I blushed.
He handed some lembas bread to me.
I thanked him, and quickly went to the children to share the meal with them.
Linda and Kyody spent 32 days together,
dodging the nazgul and keeping the group together.
At long last they arrived at Minis Tirith.
It was a great city, and it welcomed them fully.
Linda slept for nearly two days.
She had been exhausted by the events of the past two months.
Kyody stayed by her side.
He wanted to make sure she was alright.
Linda was brave and strong,
and Kyody knew she would be up and about, soon.
Something in his heart just wouldn't allow him to leave her.
The moon was full, and the night air cool
as Linda's eyes began to open.
By the side of her bed, through the blue light of the moon,
she saw Kyody.
The shadows cast a forboding look upon him
that almost frightened her, but when her gaze met his,
all uncertainty evaded her and melted away.
It was replaced with a smile and a feeling of security.
Kyody was never far away, and this
always left Linda feeling like no bad could ever take her.
Two days later, Linda's heart fell and
nearly shattered into a million pieces
as Kyody gave her the news of his leaving the city.
Other matters more pressing, were calling his name,
and he had to answer the call.
Sadly, Linda accepted the news.
Kyody took her soft warm hand in his cold dark one,
and softly kissed the back of it.
She didn't know if she would ever see him again...
...or if another love could ever mend her broken heart.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she watched him pass through the gates of the city.
She never told him that she yloved him.y
Linda, was gathering fresh vegetables from the garden, early one morning.
She loved watching the sun rise amidst the aroma of fresh green vegetation. the morning dew, just made everything seem perfect!
Hearing the pounding of heavy boots behind her,
Linda turned around.
The well shaped figure of a man, was heading her way.
He stopped just in front of her.
May I help you?,
She asked him.
He smiled and reached down, picking up a bright red tomato.
I uh.......he started, and then paused.
Yes???? Linda said... "you what?"
I uh....have seen you....out here.....uh...
...picking vegetables....
for several mornings....and.....I uh....
Seeing that he was very nervous,
Linda had to bite her lip, to keep from snickering.
Whatever he was going to say, must have been painful for him,
because he was having a terrible time speaking .
Linda smiled, and listened to him fumble for the right words to say.
Finally he said, "I wanted to meet you".
He wiped his grungy hand on his trousers, and extended it to her.
"My name is Eomer", he said with a deep voice.
Linda shook his hand. " and I am called Linda"
"It is wonderful to make your aquaintance, Linda"
Eomer said. "Likewise", she replied.
"May I interest you in some breakfast?", Linda asked.
"Why...yes....I would enjoy that very much"
Came Eomer's reply.
Eomer, followed Linda to her quaint home, in the middle of the second level of the city.
That is how they met.
