Laura D. Chandler

Active/Empathetic listening: A way of listening to another individual that let’s them feel you are listening. Created by Carl Rogers. It is affirming what others are saying. Listen with your ears open and mouth shut. Keeping your mind focused on what the person is saying to you at that time. You show your listening by affirming what the speaker is saying, using correct body language like leaning towards and facing the person, good eye contact, etc.
