My One and Only
A Tribute to Matthew E. Murphy
Move mouse over stuff for brief discription... A pic may be a link!!!
By Elizabeth A. Murphy Do you have any idea
The loss and the pain
The world just suffered today?
Do you know how it feels
To wake up all alone
And know it will never change?
I don’t think you do…
If you did you’d be here
With us where you belong
I will never feel your breath
On the back of my neck
As we sleep or we hug again.
Your kiss on my cheek
The sound of your voice
Your smell, your taste, your name.
I’m sorry you left us
Though you tried to stay
My tears won’t wipe away.
All of the dreams and hopes
For which we fought
Were lost to us both that day.
To live on my own now
With our small boys
No man to show them the way.
Yes, I am so angry
I just want to scream
Why did you take it away?
I wish you in the kitchen
I smell you in our bed
I know you’re here to stay.
But I can’t feel you
I can’t touch you
And I love you more each day.
How can I start a new life
While living in our past?
It gets harder everyday.
Please just one more day
To say those things forgot
Forgive those that were not.
One more chance to gaze
Into your eyes so alive
To feel your love with mine.
Know this now as I live and breathe
My one and only… Forever.
Forever You Remain.
