Chapter 4

“Who’s that nerd who waved at you?" I asked Leslie. "I don't know, I think she's my roommate or something." Leslie answered. Just then I noticed the hot guy from breakfast passing us. "Hold on a sec." I said to Leslie. I went over to where the guy was standing. "Hey. I'm Shavana Wong." I said. "That’s nice, are you chinese or something.” He asked not really interested. “No, I’m from New York. So I noticed you’re new here, if you need any help or something, ya know, someone to show you around, just ask for me. Everybody knows me." I flashed him a smile. "Yeah ok, see ya.”He walked off. "How did that go?” Leslie asked. "Bad. I didn't even get his name." I said. "Oh well." Leslie looked a little too happy. Well it's probably because she knows I eventually get every guy I want. Shavana Wong never loses.

I had to find Leslie. We needed to go on our first official date of the new school year. I spotted her walking down the hall. Good, she was alone. I hated when she was with Shavana. I hated Shavana period. "Leslie, wait up!” I jogged to her. “So we have a date tomorrow?” I asked. “Yeah, whatever.” She didn’t look too thrilled. “Where do you wanna go?” I asked her. “I don’t know.” She looked annoyed. “I was thinking of Giovanni’s” I said mentioning the name of this Italian place. “No. We should go to the Sunset Club.” She said. “Ok, so we’re on for friday, sunset club at 10:00?” “Yeah.” She said. I was a little disappointed, I mean the Sunset club isn’t really the most romantic place in the world. It’s this noisy club that plays dance and house music mixed with hip hop and r ‘n b. I hated that. And everyone is always dancing and pushing, especially when they have performances. Well at least it was a date and she wasn’t gonna blow me off like at breakfast.

I was walking to algebra with Steph when she waved at the brown haired girl I’d seen earlier. “Hey Krista, what’s up?” She asked. “Everything’s great!” Krista replied enthusiastically. “The people here are so nice.” “Cool. Listen, this is my cousin Sean, we had breakfast with him and he has algebra with you so you can walk together since I’m ditching class.” Steph said and smiled at me as she walked away. That was nice of her, ditching class so I could walk with Krista. I don’t think she minded not going to algebra but it was still nice of her since she’d known I thought krista was a hottie. She was pretty quiet when walked to algebra. I hoped she wasn’t snobby. I decided to make the first move. “A bunch of us are going to this place called the sunset club on Friday, you wanna come?” I asked. It was only partly a lie. A bunch of people from school would probably be at the sunset club but I didn’t know that for sure. She hesitated for a moment before replying.”Sure.”

“What are you doing Friday night?” I asked Steph. “Friday? I don’t know, probably just chilling.” She said throwing the cigarette butt to the ground. “I talked to K. Kay and she told me that everyone’s going to this club called sunset or something, feel like going?” I asked. “Not really, it’s probably one of those stupid clubs who play britney all night.” She answered. “Do you think I should go?” I asked her. She shrugged. “Do what you want. If you feel like going, then go.” “Actually I think I will.” I said. “well have fun.” She said as she walked off. I saw Abs the guy from breakfast so I walked over to him. “So I heard you’re going to the sunset club.” He said. “Yeah, I think so.” I replied. “You should come, it’ll be great, I guess I’ll see you there?” He asked. “I guess.” I replied. I didn’t know if it counted as a date or not. I don’t think so but if things went well between us on Friday maybe we could have a real date since I was definitely interested.

So far my day had been pretty shitty. The one class I hadn’t ditched today was math and the teacher had said I was disturbing the class and wanted to talk with me after class. Of course I didn’t stay. Then I’d found out that I had no more joints left so I decided to go for regular cigs but I didn’t have those either, and I really needed something right now. Well I’d live without them, but just now I’d found out that practically the whole school was going to sunset. Sunset had always been sorta my club till last year I’d had a date with Shavana and since then all her friends started going there. Well I could live with that but then I found out that almost the whole school was planning to go. I needed to find a new place to chill, one where no one I knew went. I could probably go look for good clubs on Friday but I couldn’t do that alone. I needed someone to go with me. Problem was, no girl at Buxton was worth dating. Sure they were hot and had great bods but most of them cared too much about school and the ones who didn’t were intimidated by me. I caught sight of Steph. Well it was worth a try. “So do you have any plans for Friday?” I asked approaching her. “Yeah and they don’t include going out with you.” She answered and walked off. Well at least I’d tried, the girl had way too much self confidence, why did she think I’d even wanna go out with her. Okay so that was my original plan but she still pissed me off.

I took my seat in chemistry class and I saw that Shavana girl staring at me. She got up from her seat and came to sit next to me. “I hate chem, don’t you?” “Actually I think it’s fascinating.” I said sarcastically trying to make her go away. She wrinkled her nose. “I never understood why people like chemistry so much. Anyways, you never told me your name.” “Scott. Scott Robinson.” I told her. She made these big flirty eyes at me. “So Scott Robinson, you wanna go out with me?” “I’m busy.” I said. She gave me this weird look, I think it was a glare. “Don’t worry Scott, I promise you that one day you will go out with me.”
