Mia
Mia is a 1 y.o., Tri-Color, spayed female. Our best guess is that she's a July Hound or Walker hound mix. She is very sweet, but shy to new people at first. However, she warms up quickly and seems housebroken. Mia is very strong, despite her small stature. She needs someone willing to work with her on basic obedience. S has a very high energy level but is very loving about it. She's fine with the livestock, but wants to chase cats (we're working on this).

Otis
Otis is a 5 year old neutered male pitbull. He's had a rough time up until now and was pretty darn thin when he arrived here. He's crate trained, housebroken and loves people. He's not a barker at all. His ears were cropped by the previous owners and they left them a little lopsided. Add to that his missing 2 bottom incisors, and that gives him a lot of facial character. He loves kids of all ages, but should go to a home without other pets since he has such a strong prey drive. He should probably go to a home with older, calmer children since he's very rambunctious. This dog will be a great mouser or companion for a jogger. He's VERY high energy, and needs a home to accommodate that.

Marten
The Tibetan KyiApso is related to the Tibetan Mastiff but lighter built and quicker. They are used as flock, home and temple guardians in Tibet, as are the TM's. They have a HUGE bark, which is great for scaring off danger but can be a problem in a residential neighborhood. Marten is a 1 1/2 year old neutered male from an accidental breeding. The owner had not planned on a litter, was not living in a place that allowed the number of dogs a litter represented, didn't have homes lined up and didn't have time to work with the pups. Marten lived with his litter mates untrained or socialized until 9 months, then went to a foster home. Training and ongoing socialization are paying off and he has made a lot of progress. He is very loving and gets along well with the 3 other dogs, a cat and 2 birds in his foster home. He is friendly to visitors and loves attention, but his family makes it a habit to introduce him to new people personally before letting them get to know each other on their own. Outside the home, where is is more wary and protective, he should always be properly introduced to strange people, and especially strange dogs, on leash. The ideal home for Marten would be in a place where barking isn't a big problem. It would have a very securely fenced outside area for exercise, possibly kennel runs, and people who can spend a lot of time with him. Please contact Lin Randall for more information on Marten, or Tibetian KaiApsos in general. Her e-mail is: randall2@gci.net
