Heritage From The Heart

As a busy small business owner caught up in climbing the ladder of success, it's easy to lose one's self and one's passion. Starting with my mother, I developed a passion for writing, journaling and scrapbooking at a young age. For over twenty years I have practiced the art of writing, photography, scrapbooking and journaling and in fact obtained a bachelor's degree from Whitworth College in 2002 in English with an emphasis in writing.

Though I pursue a career in business as a local Insurance and Financial Solutions agent, my passion is collecting stories and writing. Recently my husband approached me saying I need to start a side business developing a product of my own. Without a tangible item to think of I spent months considering his proposition and realized my passion and natural gift is writing, photography, journaling and scrapbooking.

Realizing that my Insurance and Financial Solutions Agency is a career that pays the bills, I decided to take up my husband's proposition with a product of my own. Owning another business has taught me that though technically I am 'the boss' in reality it's my clients that control the direction of our conversation and therefore our relationship. Truly, my clients are my boss. This being said the product I have to offer is to take a skill I learned at university and share it. Perhaps it's trauma from school days but writing has a way of stressing people out to the point of never capturing their stories of their loved ones on paper. So they put it aside and never begin. Generations pass and so do their stories. The mission of this business is to help clients capture memorable stories through writing, photography and scrapbooking to share with future generations. Additionally I have friends who are professional photographers and videographers and will work alongside me to capture your heritage, the people that matter.

You may ask how much capturing a few pages of stories cost. As an educated professional I wanted to ensure this remains affordable enough for the average person (who usually has the most unique stories) so for $10 per hour I will take time to listen to your stories and write up a several page story into a beautiful work of art to share with future generations. To honor the average person takes me at least two hours face-to-face and another ten to twenty hours sitting at my laptop creating the memories. Along with the writing I will give you a disk of the story and any accompanying photos so if you are on Facebook/MySpace, have a family website or want to email it to family and friends you can do so electronically. All I ask is you give me credit for the writing.

To begin I ask you email me at heritage@reginatocascamo.com to set up a time to meet with your loved one and family. You'll discover I prefer to meet at your home or business so you feel most comfortable to share your stories though my office doors are always open and available to you at my insurance agency.

Mostly this side business is for fun. It's easy when running a business like insurance and financial solutions to lose sight of the people you're protecting. This is my way of staying connected and authentic, remembering the life stories (whether small or large) matter to someone. Most importantly, your stories are confidential. They are your stories and whatever you share with me will be put on a page for you to share with whomever you choose. I look forward to developing a relationship with you and your family in the near future.
