Kurt Cobain

On February 20, 1967, in a small town outside Seattle, Kurt Cobain was born. He grew up, a normal, happy, hyper child, until he was 7 and his parents got divorced. Kurt was never the same after his parent's split...he took to himself, and began to enjoy singing and painting. At school, his grades were dropping, and his shy personality was making him an outcast. At home Kurt loved to listen to rock, Led Zepplin, and Black Sabbath were some of his favorite groups. By his 14th birthday, Kurt had gotten his first guitar(in his later life he developed a new type of guitar). Kurt had many jobs over the years...the only memorable one a roadie position. During the last few weeks of his high school senior year, Kurt dropped out and by 1986 he had started the band Nirvana with Dave Grohl and Krist Novaselic. The band had a slow start, but in 1991 the album Nevermind, and the hit song "Smells like Teen Spirit" were known world wide. A favorite of many Nirvana fans is "Nirvana Unplugged", which showcases the groups talent well, and also proves rumors that Nirvana was a one trick pony wrong. In his early 20's, Kurt began to take drugs, and was soon addicted to heroin. He freely admitted that he hated himself, and was constantly on the verge of suicide. Even still, in 1992 he married Courtney Love, and 6 months later she was pregnant. The members of Nirvana and Kurts friends hoped that having a wife and son would help Kurt go on, but his use of heroin only increased. He was heard to say, that he would never reach the age of 30. No one knew how correct this statement would be. On April 8, 1994 Kurt Cobain was found dead...with veins full of heroin and a shotgun blast to the head. No one knows if Kurt's death was murder or suicide...but what is truely important, is that a man died that day...a man who wanted only for people to be treated fairly, and for the music to live on.
