Interview With The Grape!
Overseeing the Point of Grace Chat Room is a wonderful young lady called Joyce - alias The Grape, Noodles and a host of over weird and wonderful names. After much pestering (she is a very busy woman you know!) she agreed to answer my questions.

Doug: How long has the Point of Grace Chat room been up and running?

Joyce: The chat has been up since late May 1997.

Doug: Why did you set the Chat Room up in the first place?

Joyce: Well, when I first started paying attention to POG, I searched the web to see what I could find on them and saw the discussion zone. People were posting there like crazy and were almost turning the place into a chat room. I had used the chat script before on a figure-skating page and thought I would try to see if I could set it up on my own site as a POG chat room. It was a breeze. Took me 5 minutes to get it up and running initially.

Doug: Are you happy with the success of the Chat Room?

Joyce: I'm more humbled than anything by how the chat has grown. I really can't claim credit for the way it has turned out. That's due to the people who come in there and just have fun clean conversations. We've had a few who've been obnoxious, but compared to other chat rooms I've been in and out of the last several years, it's still pretty remarkable how it has stayed as "clean" as it has.

Doug: Do you have any idea on average how many people a day visit the Chat Room?

Joyce: No idea on that one. That's pretty hard to measure. The only thing I can tell you is that the "Leave" button has been hit more than 28,000 times.

Doug: What do you think is the appeal of Point of Grace, as they seem to attract support from both younger and older fans?

Joyce: I can't speak for the others but I know that with me, I always look for Christian music that stays true to God's Word and message. Not to say that other groups aren't doing the same but female singers appeal more to me 'cause I'm one. I like being able to sing with the artists I listen to. Also, the gals are all so likeable. And I respect them as both artists and as people.

Doug: What are your favourite three Point of Grace songs and why?

Joyce: Douggy! That's a hard question! Got anything else? *lol* My fave song changes all the time! Sometimes there's a really catchy melody that gets my attention like "Without the Love of Jesus" then I pay more attention to that for a while. Then there are times when the message in another song stands out at a particular moment all of a sudden like "Jesus Doesn't Care (What You've Done Before)" and I reflect on that. But if I really have to choose one, that'll probably be "The Great Divide". Too awesome for words.

Doug: Do you have a message that you would like to give to the gang who visit the Point of Grace Chat Room?

Joyce: I love them all!

Thanks, Doug - I just feel like I've bared my soul.

Doug: Well I am certain that we all love and appreciate the work that Joyce does in the Point of Grace Chat Room. We thank God for her commitment to it and to the people who come and visit and make the Chat Room a home from home, no matter what country we are in.
