The Legend of the Moon Princess
I'm on vacation this month, so I've left
everything up to my firend, Luna (Diana and Arty too)!
Instead of various little articles, this month, SMU is
featuring the complete biography on one of the most
beloved Sailor Moon characters, told by the one-an-only
Luna! Huh? The Moon Princess? I really don't have time for this, what with the party and all, but, if you insist . . . As personal guardian and advisor to Princess Serenity, of the Moon Kingdom, I probably know more about her, than she knows herself! You, however avid of follower you may be, may not know the story of the Moon Princess . . . This story goes beyond the romance between a Prince from Earth and a Princess from the Moon . . . beyond a time of peace and happiness . . . beyond the depths of the Universe . . . to a place where stars are born . . Where there is light, there is darkness. The darkness calls to the light and the light calls to the darkness. Their destinies match . . . Deep within a mysterious place, called the Galaxy Cauldron, a star was born. One so brilliant that it would be forever eternal. This star of such purity, such brilliance, was not born alone. The stars of evil darkness where kin to the brilliant star. These incarnations of evil became known as some of the vilest creatures of all time and space; Queen Metallia, Death Phantom, Pharoah90, Nephrenia. . . all siblings. All born from the same place. . . the daughter of light was to become the galaxy's eternal and strongest light. The journey would not be easy. Born into human form as a Princess of the Moon, Princess Serenity brought much love and joy to her Mother, Queen Serenity, ruler of the Moon Kingdom. It was during the joyous celebration of the birth of the heiress to the throne, that the baby Princess, beholder of purity and white light, unknowingly met one of her siblings of darkness. . . Nephrenia. There was a time when the white light of the moon wasn't yet darkened by a single cloud. There was only peace and happiness. Where she came from, and since when had she been living deep in the moon, nobody noticed. She crept onto the planet in secret to spread her darkness as an incarnation of bewitching evil. Nobody knew that the power of light was drawing in darkness. An unknown inhabitant of the depths of the Moon, Nephrenia was bitterly jealous of the Queen. She made sure that her presence at the celebration would not go unnoticed. Before being concealed, forever, into a world of darkness, she gave the Princess her gift. . . a curse; "the beautiful Princess shall die before inheriting the Throne." At the time when the curse was fulfilled, the Silver Millennium would cease to exist. Many years passed, and the brightness of the the Silver Millennium was never obscured. It wasn't until that fateful day, when the Silver Millennium was forever changed. During a rare trip to Earth, the Princess fell in love with the highest ranking Prince of Earth; Prince Endymion. The Kingdom of the Moon had long watched over the Earth, and with the help of the Ginzuisho, they removed negative influences and made sure it evolved in a positive direction. However, contact between the people of the Moon and Earth was strictly forbidden. One year, the sun's activity was too much. That abnormal sun created a terrible creature. It crept to Earth unnoticed, manipulating the people of Earth, in an attempt to take it for itself. The creature, was Queen Metallia. After exploiting the people of Earth, she came to the Moon. Only the young Prince of the Earth Kingdom, the Golden Kingdom, tried to stop it, only, he was too late. The war had already begun. He died defending his one true love, Princess Serenity. Overcome with grief the Princess killed herself . . . the curse was fulfilled. The Silver Millennium ceased to exist. Before all was lost, the Queen used the power of the Ginzuisho to send all who had lost their lives that day, to a new place and time in the future. Out of confusion and grief the Queen made a seal on the evil that destroyed the Earth Kingdom. The seal became defective, and 1000 years later, reappeared on Earth. Reborn as Usagi Tsukino, the Princess was revived, by her faithful cat guardian, Luna, as Sailormoon, soldier of love and justice; the time had come to forever destroy the evil that had ruined the peace. Together with the Ginzuisho and the love of others, Sailormoon defeated Metailla and reawakened the Moon Kingdom. A new enemy revealed itself, as the Death Phantom. It was then that our Princess discovered that it was she, who was indeed the next successor to the Throne, deemed the glorious Neo-Queen Serenity. Again with the power of love and friendship, the Ginzuisho and Sailormoon defeated the evil that confronted them. With the appearance of Pharoh90, a hidden brilliance inside the Princess was awakened. In the time of despair, when the Earth was in danger of being overtaken by darkness, the Messiah, goddess of the Moon, protected the Earth with her brilliance, saving it from destruction. Time passed, and Sailormoon gained confidence and power that she would need to become the great Queen of the continuation of the Silver Millennium . . Once again, Nephrenia appeared, vowing to claim what was rightfully hers . . . determined to fulfill her curse once and for all, she struck out fiercely against Sailormoon and the Sailor Senshi, attacking them through their dreams, and trying to control their destinies, watching the Prince and Princess suffer in the process. It was then that the Princess realized the true meaning of power: power isn't taken; it isn't born alone; it isn't used alone. With the combined powers of the Sailor Senshi, and Prince Endymion, Sailormoon became Eternal Sailormoon: the carrier of the power closest to that of Neo-Queen Serenity. Sailormoon overcame all evil that confronted her. In times of despair, she called upon her friends for strength and courage. During the final battle between light and darkness, Eternal Sailormoon confronted her greatest enemy of all time - Chaos. The one who missed becoming a star. It was a battle that cost Sailormoon her life. . . but not before she realized the greatest power hidden inside. The true power of rebirth. The realization of all the galaxy's Sailor crystals as one - the Cosmos Crystal. It was through this power that the Princess and all who loved her, were reborn. The Princess fulfilled
her true destiny. . . she became Neo-Queen Serenity, wife
of King Endymion, and mother of Princess Usagi "Small
Lady" Serenity. She restored the true brilliance of
the Silver Millennium and created the utopia of Crystal
Tokyo. She stood by her secret vow, that she would
forever defend the happiness of the people on Earth.
Someday, the ultimate form of our Princess will appear as
Sailor Cosmos, the Senshi of the galaxy, forever
protecting the things we cherish most. . . "Our life
and our death, our hope and despair, and our dreams,
forever shining, will lie with her." She will
eternally be the most beautiful brilliant light.* |
