Most Games are set in gothic times (Elves,
Gnomes, Dwarves, Vampires
mages: Swords,
arrows, candles, torches etc.) and each comes
with its own history. The DM, King, Queen...
whatever you want to call the higest ranking
in the game usually has the overall say so
about everything (Normally, the reason these
people hold such a title is because they were
the ones to start the game, or given that
title by a higher ranking player). Its almost
impossable for someone just starting in a
gmae that already exists to become any more
powerful than the lowest ranking players.
A game can not be played correctly without
the participation of everyone who holds a
part in it. For example, when playing in a
main area where other players are, where new
players come into existance, its not good to
stray away from the story line, talk out of
character, or involve real life personal
matters. Everyone should be comfortable
providing eachother the right state of mind.
In otherwords, whatever you do is what your
character is doing. Its not hard to destroy
your character or destroy the setting for
others. Before entering a game you must
be prepared. Learn the history (Past and
present) of the game. Be ready to answer any
questions one might have for you as in your
looks, personality, your characters history,
age, race, profession, and your goals. Its
good for new players to write down everything
anyone else might need to know about him/her
and put them to memory. Its easy to forget
these things which are vital to upholding and
presenting your character. Once you
understand the basics of role play, the
setting of the game you wish to join, and
your personal information, your ready to
start. Always keep in mind what is expected
of you from the game and its players and you
wont have any problems. Role playing is a lot
of fun once you get the hang of it.
