Irish
Traditional & Gaelic midi music from
Ireland
Old
Irish traditional airs & music pieces
have migrated to many parts of the world.
Irish settlers who travelled abroad to
escape Ireland's famine during the 1840's
helped build the American West and
contributed to the music & society of
the time. The forced deportation of Irish
citizens to Van Diemens land (Tasmania) in
colonial days also brought the Irish
traditions to the Southern hemisphere &
Australia. Some of those musical influences
can be heard in U.S. Bluegrass, Cajun &
French Breton music styles. Here you can
hear a selection of Irish Midi Music files,
reflecting a tradition where music making
and story telling was a central part of the
community and social gatherings.
Enjoy
listening and share in the Spirit of
Ireland.
