Broaden Your Horizons has now been on the air for over five years. I started broadcasting after being dismayed at the state of commercial and underground radio, never being able to find a good roots music show to listen to. At times I would find a show playing good music, but there was no commentary. I wouldn’t know who was playing the songs, or even the titles of the songs. Taking matters into my own hands, I began the show at WRKC in December of 1997. Starting slowly, over the next two years I gained a large base of listeners who were supportive and very interested in what was going on in music. The format of the show was simple: do what I would normally do at parties or by myself and moderate the proceedings. I felt it would serve those listening by making intelligent conversation between songs and pointing out the names of artists and songs between sets. After a short tenure at the Wilkes University radio station and a brief respite, I returned to WRKC in the spring of 2001. I am thrilled to be back on the air, in a relaxing atmosphere where I am able to provide you, the listener, with the best of the blues. I would also like to send a personal thank you to those who have listened to my program for all of these years and given me support through email, phone calls, packages and letters. It has truly been an enriching experience for me and I hope that it continues for years to come. Thank You, Daryl Williams.
