STOP PRESS !!!! - NEW SEASON STARTS ON 24TH OCTOBER AT GREENHAM COMMON - WOLVES vs COBRAS AND SCORPIANS vs BARRACUDAS - BOOKMARK THIS PAGE FOR RESULTS AND NEWS

FORMED IN 1997

In its first season 97/98 the BDSHL attracted 3 teams to the league. Set up by Andrew Yule, Robert Aldridge and Graham Goodall the league is designed to offer local teams an opportunity to play each other in a formal and organised way.

The rules for the league were conceived by Andrew Yule and designed to offer a free flowing game without contact for teams of players under 16 years old. We have concentrated on letting the kids play the game as opposed to establishing a complicated set of dos and don'ts.

The league for the 97/98 season consisted of 3 teams

Robert Mays - Scorpions - Set up and coached by Andrew Yule the Scorpions are the longest established team in the league. With a base at Robert Mays School in Odiham the team were the Champions in the first year of the league.

Winklebury Wolves - Established by Robert Aldridge and Graham Goodall the Wolves consist of local Basingstoke kids with Kit supplied by a grant from the Basingstoke and Deane District Council. The team were established in 1997 and proved worthy opponents to the Scorpions finishing second in the league but with top scorer Lee Corson proving to be the wolves player of the year.

The Hurst - Barracudas - Set up in the same way as Robert Mays the barracudas are managed and coached by Andrew Yule. The barracudas are new to the sport but proved they have the makings of a good team.
