STAR
Green with amber swirls

This "STAR" beehive is unusual for its high degree of amber swirling. The amber color resulted from brown scrap glass or cullet being added to the batch of raw materials.

1900-1910 is the most likely date range for the manufacture of this piece. Most of the STAR insulators are beleived to have been made during this period. Also, the "Beehive" style was replaced as the Western Union standard for its telegraph lines around 1909.

This example was found near Amory, MS.
