Crappie Flies

Crappie are an entirely different story than bass and trout, these fish will take just about any fly put in front of them. I have even caught a few on a bare hook. But the most common flies for these fish are:

  • surface poppers
  • any underwater nymph
  • any kind of dry fly

Regardless of the fly that you use you will catch these fish.

When fishing for crappie make sure to look for heavy brush and objects in the water. They use these objects for cover and a place that they can use to ambush their prey. Cast on the edge of cover and open water and you will find that this method will produce more fish than casting randomly into the water.
