You rush back to camp to find Iolaus still fishing by the edge of the lake. You tell him about the cries for help, and the two of you rush off into the forest. Before long Iolaus has discovered their source: and old man who is stuck in a hole. Getting to the hole you announce your arrival to the old man and assure him that you will do everything you can to get him out. While you are assessing the situation you ask him how he got stuck in the hole in the first place. He tells you that his name is Aphneus, and he lives near by. He was out walking, and wasn't looking where he was going, and fell into the hole. He thinks his ankle is broken, since it hurts and is very swollen. He doesn't think that he can climb out by himself. Upon investigation you discover that the hole appears to have been dug by hunters to catch a bear. The hole is fairly deep, and the sides are smooth. You don't have any rope with you to pull him up, but there are some vines near by as well as some boulders. You and Iolaus talk for a bit, and decide to use:
A -- The vines to fashion a rope
B -- The boulders to make a ramp in the hole
