Title: Past Reviled Day: 148 Location: Unknown Esimed was in a cell at the Shadow-Tal base, where ever that was. He knew that at any moment he would be sent for. He wondered what he should tell them about himself when they asked. He was told that the leader of the Shadow was Panther, but shouldn't Panther be dead? Then Esimed considered that Panther may have been able to survive for many years as he did. The question was, what made Panther live on? Just then a sound made Esimed forget about the question. As he prepared himself for anything, Beth walked into the cell. "Ashdon let me come to see you," Beth said. Esimed didn't know what to do. He had come to have strong feelings for this girl in the short time he knew her, but he knew that if she found out what he was, she would hate him. He made up his mind and was about to tell her about himself, when Ashdon entered. "Panther wishes to see you now," Ashdon said. "Will Beth be there?" Asked Esimed. Yes was all Ashdon said as he started to turn away from him. "Please don't let her be there Ashdon. I was about to tell her the truth about me and I know that I will have to tell Panther. But I don't want her to find out that way," Esimed said. Beth walked up and kissed Esimed and said that she wanted to be there for him, and it didn't matter what he was. All Esimed did was look at her, and say, "If only that was true." The next thing Esimed knew, he was standing in front of Panther. "Turn him around so I can see this weird tattoo on his back," Panther said. Esimed turned around without help and said, "Kill me now and get it over with." Panther laughed and said, "You are either clan-less or love living in the past, as the tattoo says. You would do well to pick one or the other." Esimed turned and looked at Panther. All around the room people were confused. Panther raised his voice so all could hear him and said, "Take a good look at this young man's back and you will see the original Spyre tattoo from over a hundred years ago." People all around the room gasped, and some placed their hands on their sword's handles, because one from Spyre was in their lair. Panther looked at Esimed and said, " I do not believe your real name is Esimed, who are you?" Demise looked Panther in the eyes and coldly said, "Demise." When that was said, the Keepers of Knowledge for the clan took a step back. Everyone saw it. More men made moves for their weapons. Finally, after moments of silence, Ashdon asked the question everyone wished to know, who is Demise. Before Panther could answer that he had only heard the name once before in the Kin Sal Tal's past history, Esimed turned to the crowd and said, "Demise was my birth name from over a hundred years ago. I was among the best warriors Spyre had. I slaughtered people for the fun of it and was brutal about it. I destroyed towns because a member of the town angered me. I was rightfully named Demise." As he started to speak again, he saw Beth out of the corner of his eye. She was crying. He started to die inside, but he started to speak again. "During the time that Hyru was starting to take over, someone, or something, started to mess with my mind and I began to let my emotions run out of control. I was put on trial by Spyre and found guilty. I was to die, but I tricked the clan into killing my brother instead." Esimed didn't even look at Beth. "When I escaped, I found my way to a little village, and made my home there. I started to like the people, and looked back on my life, and saw how evil I truly was." Esimed took a deep breath at the memory of Seda. Esimed started to speak again, "This village was being raided every six weeks, and I decided that I would make up for my sins, and protect the village. I trained the villagers to fight, and we set traps. When the raiders came, we destroyed them, or so we thought. I was wounded and some believed I was to die. While I was in my bed, what was left of the raiders came back and destroyed the village and killed every last villager. By trying to help, I performed another sin. Some strange creature saved me but I feared I was to be its next meal, so I left his company and ran across two men. One of them had a magic scroll and I read it, only to be trapped in another realm where I didn't age or feel hunger." With that last statement Esimed stopped and looked at the crowd. Then he finished his story, "I got out of that realm about 2 years ago and I have been making up for my sins ever since." Panther looked at Esimed and said, "If you wish to be Esimed, it will symbolize your reverse of heart. If you truly wish to make up for your sins, and wish to strike back at Spyre, then join us. We can always use more members." Esimed turned to look at Beth. Ashdon was leading her away. Panther saw what was in Esimed's heart and said, "And with making up for your sins, you may win her back." Esimed said only one thing, "I pray so."
