Most Dutch Warmbloods have an excellent temperament, being normally quiet, willing, intelligent with enough spirit and energy to command attention and perform the work which is required of them. They are noted for their beautiful flowing gaits which make them excellent to ride and great to watch.
They need the same care as any hard working horse and despite being a top level competition horse they are still quite easy for a moderately experienced handler to ride and look after.
Coat and Colour
The Dutch Warmblood is mainly Bay and Brown. Grey, Black and Chestnut also occur.
Ancestry
The Dutch Warmblood is mainly made up of two Dutch native breeds, the Groningen and the Gelderlander. The Thoroughbred and other warmblood types have been used to refine the breed to adjust temperament and conformation.
