K-Mart

Kamrt is a giant corporate monster. I use the term monster because the damage that it does to people is horrific. Not it's consumers of course but it's workers that make it's products in Nicaragua. The people of this country live in extreme poverty because of rapists like Kmart, who come into their vulnerable land and exploit, exploit, exploit. Kmart pays it's workers less than 15 cents an hour. That on its own is ridiculous but the list goes on. They force workers to work 12 hour shifts at a time ($1.80 per day) along with forced overtime for anywhere up to 4 more hours. They curse and hit workers in the factories just to pick up production and ifany worker ever tries to organize for their own right s or even defend themselves they are black listed and fired. Chentex is the company name in Nicaragua that contracts to J.C. Penny, K-Mart and Wal-Mart for production of their products. This is the company that allows it to be much easier for these corporate monsters to close their eyes to the truth of what is going on. The corporations pay the contractors and try to forget about the workers. It is as easy as closing your eyes when you eat a hamburger. If you cannot see it and only think about the taste (or profit), you will have no problem with the cost.

A Kmart Worker's Lifestyle
- Have to live on $574.08 per year
- Sleep on dirt floors
- No time off (seven days a week)
- cannot talk during working hours
- workers are given 1 break per day: 30 minutes for lunch where they have to fight in the courtyard to purchase a limited supply of food through a barbed wire fence
- If workers miss more than three days of work ever... they are fired
- Refusing to have sexual intercourse with your supervisor will result in being fired
- After an investigation by The National Labour Committee, it was found that no worker had ever heard of the Wal-Mart, J.C. Penny, or Kmart code of conduct.
