Policies

Practice

Monday: 3:00- 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 7:30- 9:30 pm
Wednesday: 3:00- 5:00 pm
Thursday: 7:30- 9:30 pm
Friday: November 6 3:00- 5:00 pm
Friday: November 20 7:30- 9:30 pm

All practices are required. You must have 90% attendance to be eligible to letter and 80% attendance to participate on the team. Failure to meet the attendance requirement is the only reason I would cut a swimmer.

Absences

If you miss practice, please notify my beforehand. My home phone number is 985-5361 and I have an answering machine on all the time. You may also send a note with a teammate. I will excuse school functions (choir, band or plays) or if you are sick from school, otherwise, you must decide your priorities. If you miss a meet you must notify me in WRITING at least a week beforehand, invitational meet entries are often due a week in advance. Two sport athletes are excused under certain circumstances (see team rules).

Team Rules

• You must come to at least two practices during the week to swim in a meet.
• You must attend at least nine practices before you are eligible to compete. New rule if you are coming out of a Fall sport this requirement is waived. (Please see me if this applies to you)
• During practice you must have appropriate behavior and consideration for yourself, teammates, managers and coaches. During meets you will not be condescending or insulting to either your teammates or the opposition. I expect your best behavior at all times. Remember, you represent your school and community.
• Two sport athletes, who decide swimming to be the primary sport, must attend every practice unless it interferes with the secondary sports Game, Meet etc. I would like to know ahead of time which practices you will miss, a schedule of all practices and games must be submitted.

Lettering Policy

Each swimmer must average 4 points per regularly scheduled dual meet and have 90% attendance to earn a letter. Points may be obtained as follows.

• Points earned for place in any meet.
• 2 points for making the honor role- 3.4 or above.
• Points at meets are awarded as follows: 6 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th, 1 point for 5th, no points are awarded for 6th. All point totals are doubled for major meets. Relays are as follows: 8 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 2 points for 3rd, no points for any other place. All points from relays are divided amoung the 4 relay members.

Sportsmanship and hardwork are important considerations and I reserve the right to letter anyone who I believe otherwise qualifies, but does not have enough points.
