After last years NFL Quarterback Club 98 I couldn't wait to get the latest
installment of the series. With it's extremely improved graphics I thought
it would be the best Football game on the N64 yet. I got it for Christmas
and was eager to play. As I saw the opening sequence I was amazed at the
tight graphics of the game. I am a Dallas Cowboy fan and I hate the
Philadelphia Eagles (even though I live near Philly) so every year I play a
game between the two teams.
When I started playing things were going good
until I chose a pass play. It was incomplete. The receiver dove for the
ball and missed. After about the tenth pass play in a row I noticed a trend.
The receivers always dove for the ball and most of the time they didn't
catch it. Although the run game was improved it seemed like they slacked off
on the pass game because it was horrible compared to last years.
After a few weeks of playing I started to get the hang of when to throw a bullet pass and when to throw a lob and how that will effect the way the receiver catches the ball. So, it is possible to master the game controls but it takes way too long.
So, here's the Slicksta's take on QB Club. It's graphics were great
but looks can be deceiving as the game control was way crappy. I'm sad to
say I must give this game a mediocre 5.0 After a 2 year stand of dominance I
think the QB Club days are over and people will go back to the good old John
Madden series. I know I will. Until next time.
