This Game Is More Real Than the Real Thing Is. Wrestlers act like their real-life counterparts. Raven, a selfish, ‘lazy’ wrestler, will even slump in the corner. And with 60 wrestlers, 40 real ones, there is plenty of action to go around. Trophies, trash cans, stop signs. All of those thing can be in your possesion. And in the ring. In times of trouble, a random wrestler may come out to help or hinder you. In the Monday Nitro scenario, you can throw your opponent through the door at the top of the walkway, only to be slammed as he comes back out. There are also 5 or 6 different belts to be won, which will unlock hidden characters for your use. The controller pack is also supported, so you can bring your wrestlers to friends, and even change the persons name or outfit. Each Wrestler Has It’s OWN Entrance. Which can be fun, or for those of you who just want to knock the other one out, annoying.
The graphics are smooth, but I do experience times when the wrestler laying on the mat is disconnected at the joints by black. Other than that, an occasional hand may “go through” your opponents body.
The sound has it’s moments at well featuring three entrance themes, each symbolic to the wrestler it features. The wrestlers also grunt and a woman screams when a body is thrown against a “guard” rail.
The game options are satisfying, with a 4-40 man Battle Royal Mode, a Handicap Match, League (to get belts), tag team, and exhibition. There is a DQ option that allows the use of weapons or non-use of them., and an improvement over the first game, a little light that tells you when your tag partner can just hop in. The game is not original by any means, but probably the best done wrestling game I’ve seen. I give it a 4 ˝ out of 5, because of some minor glitches (i.e., graphics, and a glitch that allows you to easily count out your opponent.
