WHAMMMMM!
Shauna "Jag" Tyers blinked hard as she was thrown on her back. Jag had never realized just how hard the floor of the over-stuffed warehouse was. She shook her head to clear it, then gasped and rolled away as a huge foot landed where her head had been. She rolled to her knees and then her feet. Then voices of the crowd echoed in her head.
"It that really the best you can do?" "That's not the way the legendary street fighter Jag fights! I know! I've seen the real Jag in action before!" "Eat her up, Beast!"
The Beast just grinned at his tiny nemesis. Beast was 7'10, and all muscle. His natural hair color of bright orange stood out as his hair trailed down his back. When he grinned, the Beast exposed a mouthful of sharp, pointed teeth. The scrawny kid in front of him was no trouble at all. Not for someone of his strength.
Shauna, for her part, fully believed it at that point in time. As long as she had been a street fighter, one the few of her age who fought for money, she had been unbeatable. Now, nothing worked against this big goon. She had even tried using her anger, the most powerful weapon she had, and still he was beating her. She kept springing away, coming to get a quick hit, but it was not enough. He just kept coming, and she kept getting more tired. She had no clue what to try. At a slight break, she looked to her twin sister, Amy Strates. Amy mouthed two words.
"The dojo."
To anyone else who saw those words mouthed, it would have meant nothing. To Shauna, though, they were a reminder. They were all she needed. She turned back to the Beast as he spoke her name.
"So, Jag, are you ready to give up and admit defeat yet?" Shauna looked at his grinning face, so sure of victoryŠand smiled.
The Beast was surprised. He had seen all sorts of expressions from his enemies over the years, but never had one smiled at him quite like this. Point of fact, none had ever smiled at him, not while fighting him. This new look made him pause, and be more wary. From what he had witnessed in other fights, when someone smiled, it meant trouble.
The two combatants began circling each other. Shauna moved lightly on her feet, occasionally wiping blood that had trickled from a wound above her eye out of the eye. The Beast lumbered around, trying to guess his enemies next move. It was not what he had expected.
Shauna gave a yell and charged at him. He bent down to meet her and shot off a punch at her. Shauna jumped on his hand and flew into the air. He turned to see where she had gone when her feet slammed into his face. He staggered back, clutching his bleeding nose, as Shauna let go of the bar she had grabbed to keep herself up. He glanced at her, then raised his hands in defense as Shauna started toward him. Her feet were everywhere, hitting him with the same force as clubs would have. He kept trying to escape, but there was no escape. Shauna was everywhere.
Finally, the Beast had had enough. He swayed back and forth then toppled to the ground. Shauna stood over him and put her foot on his neck to claim her victory. The warehouse was silent, then one person started clapping. More joined, some shouting in victory. Soon, the warehouse was ringing with the victory cry. Shauna was lifted on the shoulders of well wishers. As the people started to bear her away, she saw Amy collecting the fighting fee that was owed to her. Amy looked at her and raised her fist in victory. Shauna raised her own in victory, then looked out the window. Her eyes grew wide and the smile left her face. Amy saw her reaction and looked out the window herself. Amy's reaction matched perfectly the one from Shauna. Amy turned and ran for the back door.
Shauna, unable to get down, jumped up and grabbed one of the numerous bars above her. The people looked around in confusion just as the cops burst into the doorway. The people backed up, unsure as to what they should do. None could get out, and they knew it. The cops had finally found the street fight arena.
Shauna, meanwhile, raced along the cat walk. If the police found her, she was sunk. She thought that she would make it out without any trouble when a voice called out to her. "STOP!" Shauna kept running. The gang was waiting out back to pick her up. If she could just make it to the car!
She jumped down and kept running. The car had just come into sight when a bark came from behind her. She quickly glanced over her shoulder and groaned softly. A rather un-friendly looking Doberman was racing after her. She leaped over boxes, trash cans, anything to stop it. The dog just kept coming.
Shauna put out a final burst of speed and made it to the van. Amy and one of their friends, a boy named Marko, pulled Shauna into the car as it sped away. The dog stayed behind, barking wildly. Shauna watched it recede out of the back window. She leaned back with a sigh.
"Man, am I glad that's over!" she said, then pulled back with a yelp. "Amy, that hurt! What are you trying to do, kill me?"
Amy gave her sister a peeved look. "Yes, I am. I'm not glad that we just found out that we were twins last year, so I'm trying to kill you. Now, come here before that cuts festers. Shauna grumbled, but allowed her sister clean the cut. While it was being cleaned, Marko came over.
"Wow! A thousand bucks! That must have been one hot champion, huh?" He was grinning as he waved the money in the air. Shauna yanked it out of his hand.
"Yes," she started, "the Beast was a major champion, and no, you will not get to spend any of it." Marko's face fell. "I'm sorry, but I need this. It's probably going to pay bail for either Amy or I the next time we get caught." Amy snorted behind her.
