Wanting to know how to reach God, to feel closer to
Him?
Surprising answers here.
Seek the Lord
The Lord is with you while you are with Him.
If you seek Him, He will
be found by you;
but if you forsake him, He will forsake you.
2 Chronicles 15:2
The way we respond to God sets the stage for His
presence in our lives.
Inasmuch as these people draw
near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts
far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is
taught by the commandment
of men,
Therefore, behold, I will again
do a marvelous work
Among these people,
A marvelous work and a wonder,
For the wisdom of their wise
men shall perish,
And the understanding of their
prudent men shall be hidden.
Jer 29:13-14
He wants to have fellowship with us, but
He will never force Himself on us. But, we cannot reject a relationship with him and
still expect Him to remain near. He doesn't follow us around hoping
we'll notice Him, or waiting until we finally decide we need His help.
If we continually reject him, there will come a time when we really
need Him and He will not be near.
Behold, the Lord's is not
shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.
But your iniquities have
separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His
face from you,
So that He will not hear.
It is a mistake for us to treat God like a servant who
should wait on us. He will relate to us on His terms, not ours. He desires
a close walk with us and will make His presence real and personal if that is our
desire.
We can look forward to intimate fellowship with him if we repent
our sins and seek Him on His terms.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners;
and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Lament and mourn and weep!
Let your laughter be turned to mourning
and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and He will lift you up.
James 4 :8-10
We should seek Him continually, and never be content
to begin a day without the assurance that He is walking beside us. Do
we say we want a relationship with Him, and want to experience his presence
every day, and yet our actions speak the opposite? If
we say we want to know Him better, but don't get into his Word, we can't say we are
truly seeking Him. Do we have a place of prayer? And if we do, do we go
there regularly? He has promised that if we seek Him, we will find Him.
