HANS MARTIN BOYSEN

AND

MARIA SOPHIA THOMSEN

Hans Martin Boysen was born March 27, 1840 in Almdorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He came to America prior to 1881 without his family. His family followed in 1882. He was married to Marie Sophia Thomsen. According to his obituary, gotten from the "Ida Pioneer" newspaper in Ida Grove, Iowa, he had suffered a "stroke of paralysis" five years earlier. This then "deprived him of the use of his limbs entirely". He was bedridden all that time. Hans died July 1, 1907 in his home in Schleswig, Crawford, Iowa.

Maria Sophia Thomsen was born in Husum, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany on March 19, 1840. According to the passenger list for the "Gellert", Maria Boysen with her children Christian, Peter, Cornelius, Bernhard, Mathilda, Sophia and Heinrich, arrived in New York on October 4, 1882. I believe that Christian is really Christina. Maria and Hans Boysen were married about 1865 in Germany. Then on April 29, 1914, Maria Sophia Boysen died at her home in Schleswig, Crawford, Iowa. To this union were born seven children. This information was also taken from the "Ida Pioneer", a newspaper of Ida Grove, Ida, Iowa.

Their children were:

(1) Christina Boysen - (1866 - 1928)

(2) Broder Peter Boysen - (1867 - 1948)

(3) Cornelius Boysen - (1870 - 1936)

(4) Bernhardt Boysen - (1872 - 1933)

(5) Matilda Boysen - (1874 - 1953)

(6) Sophia Boysen - (1877 - 1924)

(7) Heinrich Anton Boysen - (1879 - 1959)
