A BRACE FROM SUPERPIPPO
MODENA - Milan made
an impressive start to the Serie A season with a 3-0 win over newly promoted
Modena.
Inzaghi as Rivera: the 'Golden Boy' scored the last Rossonero goal at the
'Braglia' stadium, now Superpippo welcomed in the same way the comeback of the
Emilians to the Italian top division.
He actually struck first on 18 minutes, finishing off good work by Jon Dahl
Tomasson and an inspired Rui Costa. Then, after Dario Simic headed in a corner
from Andrea Pirlo on 54 minutes, he added a late third, sending in a fine pass
from Pirlo. Milan deserved the three points for the determination they showed on
the pitch and the chances at will they carved out.
Excellent debut also for Alessandro Nesta who, led by Maldini's experience,
helped the back line to block every attempt of proceedings from the hosts.
Clappings also for Rivaldo, who replaced Rui Costa in the ending of the match
and saw a last-minute goal denied because of the fourth man signalling offline.
