PIPPO SPEAKS

'Magical formula or philisophies on how to win don't exist, what counts is the will to win.' 'On a solid defence great success can be built.' 'When I score I get lost in the moment.' Some of the comments from today's press conference with Filippo Inzaghi at Milanello in the wake of yesterday's win at Parma.

MILANELLO – It couldn't have been anyone else in the press room at Milanello today other than the man of the hour: Pippo Inzaghi, scorer of the goal that finally lifted the curse of Tardini (the ground where Milan had not the taken three points since April 9th 1995). Speaking about the goal, Superpippo said with a smile ’Every time I score it's an indescribale feeling - I literally lose myself in the moment'. And from goals to his relationship with the fans. 'It makes me really pleased to have a good relationship with the supporters. Sincerely I wasn't expecting such a reaction. It means that they know that when I play I always try to give my best. I don't like going off the pitch thinking that I could have done more'.
But now there's no time for distraction. In two days there is another important game - the return match against Perugia. ’Even if we are three nil up from the home game we have still to concentrate if we want to continue our winning streak. Great success is built on a solid defence, and not conceding a goal in four games is an important sign. As for Chievo, whom I congratulate for getting off to such a great start this season, we'll start thinking about them on Thursday’.
Del Neri's Chievo team lead Serie A at the moment but there are other teams to fear in the fight for the Scudetto, first among these being Juventus. 'The teams I fear the most? Inter, Roma and Juve. Inter and Roma because they continue to win even when they're not convincing and Juve of course, because in my opinion they have the strongest squad.
Speaking of Juve… it was inevitable that Pippo would be asked about his time with the bianconeri. ‘Were Juventus disappointed to let me go? That I don't know, but one thing is certain – Superpippo confided - I'm enjoying myself at Milan and I'm finding it marvellous. We are a close knit team, with Ancelotti we are making great progress and I'm sure we can achieve great results. And that's what's important.'
